Great player. Oz rugby and all we fans are going to miss him. Until the Brummbies youngsters get up to speed he will be greatly missed and even at their best they are not going to be as good as he is.

The Brumbies are going to miss him, big time.

awesome to see mccabe come 2nd and get the other awards. he really deserved those points and has a great future should he keep it up. his direct style could be just the thing.

You have got to be kidding - how many games did he play? The Brumbies used to be the most creative team in the competition but it looks to me like they have really run out of ideas. Shit, maybe he'll win in next year too, despite playing no games for them. On the other hand a glimpse at the other contenders really does highlight what a great player George Smith was.

I dont think he would have won if he was not leaving, I think some sentiment came into it. I think McCabe was hard done by, he surely would have got some points every week. Smith would have needed maximum points each time he went on the field.

On another note, I think the Australian awards should consider a special award or gift for G Smith for all of his work over the years

I think if you win an award 9 times they might have to change it to be named after you.

Wallabies Rookie of the year award should be the George Smith award. Plucked into the team so young, had an immediate impact... getting yellow carded that is.
