Latham can never reach the same level of esteem as Burke because he was given his full chance too late. I'm still filthy about bloody Mat Rogers being preferred over him for such a long period of time.

Latham is my favourite player of all time though, so there might be a hint of bias in my opinion.

Drewpint, he'd be close to my fave Aussie player too (probably after Larkham).

Burke was a machine too though, but I thought Latham had a bit more zing to him.

Like comparing Cullen to Mils.

very tough between bourke and latham>
purely as a fullback ball in hand i prefer latham> and his long kicking is someting we have missed ever since
but bourkes kicking for points won us many games and his individual wining of games on this point alone prolly edges him over latham

burke by a country mile in my view. he was great in the late 90s, some of the tries he scored then were on par with Latham in his prime yet Burke never had the brain explosions of Latham.

And a more than competent goalkicker, too.

This thread highlights the quality of the current lot, how many would be an option for a "best of" side?

Worth remembering when we get too excited about our opportunities
