even colts nowadays is about recruiting the best school kids who most likely have nothing to do with your juniors, those players long term then become 'part of colts and part of the program'

I guess I'm thinking about a maximum of one degree of separation i.e. trying to get juniors right through to seniors in your local areas seems difficult - one they go into the schools system it is spin-the-wheel and they could come out anywhere.

So what is the conversion rate of Colts into Grade at the same club?

Churn rate must be high...

If you've got 3 Colts sides, and 4 senior sides, but the top 1.5 senior sides are being recruited and not promoted, the maths doesn't seem to work out for a smoother pathway.

Particulary if some of your 2nd-4th XV are sticking around for a few years; Colts have about 2 years to make their mark.

So in addition to my "where do they come from?" question, I guess the next bit is "where do they go?"

Because I know a Subbies club who could use a few guys turning 21-25 for our campaign next year ;) We pay in beer, pizza, and good times!

Very hard to know but generally healthy. Most will filter into 2-4th Grade and play.

As HE mentions, 1st Grades are heavily recruited these days so it's hard for any of them to have mass guys come from Colts through to SS. You then have a lot of really elite Colts likely to chase Pro contracts which may take them from 1st Colts to say JID Grade or HC so you never find out if they would have stuck around.

General age of players is lowering as well. You don't see the guys in their early 30s anymore.

Probably helps create gaps for Colts coming through.

My main concern - after helping the Renegades set the foundation for the future - is that we don't have players leaving the game too early.

One hand washes the other ;)
