Clubs seem pretty active in positioning themselves for something more serious.

Clubs like Gordon have a lot of players and a strong women’s program behind them also.

While part of me thinks it’s about time another part of me worries about leaving behind the likes of Southern Districts who always produce good talent for higher sides. Holloway, Kane Douglas and it’s where BPA got most of his development.

Unfortunately, I think with the structures we have, this is inevitable. Trying to support 7 teams is tough, and to go "pro" might mean changing a club's base and formation, which could be challenging for some.

Overseas models are quite different to SRU - speaking to Kiwis, a "big" club in their competition had First XV, Bs (Reserve Grade), and then 21s and 19s. Probably a good model for continuity and allows decent flow of players upward as retirements and injuries happen.

Really need to figure out what a good pyramid looks like to support the non-social player.

I genuinely think who ever has the most money will consistently win. Clubs have done well to be competitive over the last few years which is great, but it generally wont be anything other than being competitive.

Souths have lost their young waratahs back (ropata). It doesnt leave many (respectfully) lower clubs with many reps.

I wonder how many waratahs on club jersey day will be wearing jerseys from Eastwood, Souths, Parra, West Harbour & wildfires?

And whatever money is spent by these clubs, it needs to be sustainable. If you've got a benefactor pouring cash in from his successful business, you're only a change of ownership or a bad year away from not having that capital.

Where has Ropata gone too? Has he been injured. Very good with the 20s a couple years back and haven’t heard much.

Rate him as a Centre. Got a few in front of him at the moment but could push Foketi long term.

I wonder if the Rats, Pirates, Two Blues and Souths even bother approaching Tahs signings at this stage.

Rats? I think they will be ok $$$$ they have a couple of super rugby players i think and enough clout to buy development longterm.
Wests i saw have 2 guys i think who are tahs - alo and mesu.
i dont think souths and parra have anyone though, not even in the training squads

Watching the Hospital Cup on STAN it appears most of the games aren't played on enclosed grounds ie no admission charge. Missing out on a source of income???
