Shute Shield 2025

Based on what ive heard recruitment wise, Warringah vs Gordon GF, Easts and Uni to make out the other 2 semi finalists. Norths and wildfires in the top 6. Manly and Norths to go close to the 6 with parra, souths and wests working out the bottom 3 places.
IMO Easts will be in the GF based on their Grade squad and the introduction of their Colts players from 2024.

Have to agree. When you think of the players likely to drop back into the side as well come finals it's hard to go past them. Either Wilson or Grant at 9, Bowen at 10 then Gamble, FLW (Fergus Lee-Warner) could be back with Adamson, Heaven, Lancaster...

Norths with Kalapu and Amone are neat pick ups.

Real good to see Kailea and Creighton listed with Randwick......Going to do wonders for Rugby there. At least TT has been put with West Harbour. Chuck him on some posters.

You have to change Porecki to Manly immediately or there may be unrest on the Northern beaches.

Talataina with Uni as well. I really want him to stay long term with NSW.

Porecki - Rats!!
A Marlins junior/colt and legend since 2013. But I suppose if you look at the Rats failures to take players to the next level, claiming Porecki would at the least be a decent short cut for them!

Done that

Of course, there will be some players coming back to the Shute Shield from other Super teams.

So post Super Rugby easts get a whole new professional team. None of them will make wallabies. Will be very hard to beat in the finals.

A champion team beats a team of champions my dear Homer..

Manly Marlins have 2 womens XV teams and a sevens team. Must be doing something right.
They are saying (but wont divulge) that they may have a gun signing at 10.
Hoops ran pre-season for 3 weeks before the lure of the yen drew him to Japan.

On a different note following on from the points/eligibility debacle from last year have the SRU released any updated guidelines for this years competition? Will be interesting to see if there is some clarification around 7s players and those returning from Europe or MLR mid season. I don't mind if they increase the cap ,just ensure everyone has clarity on the rules and play the game on the field where it should be

Love a good news story. Especially if it is something other clubs can learn from or implement.

Which other SRU clubs don't have Womens XVs at this point? Would be a shame if players left because they didn't get game time.

Liking their new web site with a few quality names starting to appear from the Aussie 7s squad

wonder if the Marlins will see Foketi, Gleeson or Porecki at all this year. May well if the powers that be want everyone playing for ahead of the provincial games vs the Lions - if they arent in the main squad.

Should see Gleeson as Schmidt has dropped him from the Wallabies due to his move to Montpellier

I just dont think that bottom 3, at the moment can compete with other clubs off-field, which impacts on field. I dont imagine they would have the same budgets as the other clubs to buy players. I dont think Parra or Souths have any waratahs in 2025 which i think is a massive shame. All 3 teams will have had mass turnovers of players in the off-season too, so its always hard to embed the new players, i think it takes over half a season, buy the time they might do well, any chances will be over, and then all they have done is put their good players in the shop window for other teams to take them again.

Unscrupulous other clubs........
