Shute Shield 2023

As previously suggested, the AFL state leagues (VFL/SANFL/WAFL/TSL/NTFL & apparently the NEAFL as well) were all dropped from the ABC in 2014 as well.

it's been forever since I've watched broadcast television so have no idea what's actually being covered now, but at the time they were moving to cover national womens sport (especially the W-League) which weren't getting the same Commercial Interest they have been over the past 5 or so years.

A lot of these are on Kayo now as well. I think a lot of the W League is on ch10 and Paramont Plus (might be wrong)

Streaming is the best thing that's happened to lower tier sport. Even the smaller comps like Subbies Rugby and School Boys getting on Cluch Sports has been great. I reckon I get to Sunday nights now and I've watched at least 15 games and neglected all other responsibilities. I get the silent treatment until Tuesday night then I hang out with the Wife on Wednesday then do it all again. God she was pissed about the Ashes being in the UK.

every state was different,

NSW : Shute
QLD : qrl
Vic/SA/WA/Tas/NT : was all state league afl
Through the mists of time, your memory is much better than mine. But even then, it made little sense for the Sydney club competition to be televised statewide?

Trivia note, one day the weather was so bad at Williamstown the camera men refused to go back out after half time & in vic we went to the shute shield. I remember Dan Parks was playing!

Not 100% sure about the Shute but we def got the qrl down here when digital tv 1st game out. The storm once put out a media release saying watch it this week an 18 yo by the name of Greg Inglis just had the greatest game a kid could have.

Big win for Uni. If they start to get some players back they are lurking. Randwick keep it rolling.

Big Eastwood win.

Uni defended very well. Manly really should have scored in the last 5 mins but didn't look like they had the creativity to generate a try.

Gordon have leaked about 75 points in the last 2 weeks. What's going on?
There was an incident early in the season when Brian Melrose walked away from the Head Coach job. He walked back, but maybe things are not too good at the club??
