Wicks selected team adds up to 76 points plus Carraro. Assuming he gets the full 50% long service discount the total will be 84 points. Might impact the reserve bench though !!!

I believe that's still the case, but there are discounts available for years of service to the same club ie:
1 point per year up to a maximum of 4 points
OR
50% discount for 8 or more years service with the same club

I think Carraro first came to Randwick in 2005 or 2006 from Sydney Uni, but he then went overseas in 2009 before coming back in 2014, so I'm not sure what points discount he's entitled to.

Few pages back i referenced one of the challenges Manly has been dealing with this year. With Manly having been in the rugby scene since 1883 it would be great if we could have your support with the following petition;

Take a minute and throw your support behind rugby.

Would be a travesty if they were to take Manly Oval away for construction. I also play cricket there against Manly-Warringah Cricket Club and rate it in my top 3 grounds I've ever played at. Have signed the petition and look forward to hearing the outcome.

I've signed Dave.
Please keep the G&G community updated on progress of this.
The road trip (or ferry trip!) to Manly Oval is one of the highlights of the season even though I can't remember the last time we won there.
Surely there must be other options available to the council.

I've signed Dave. The difference in local council support for community based sports in Australia compared to what I see here in NZ is astounding. Hoping good sense prevails, but until then, maintain the rage :)

Shute Shield followers from outside the peninsula may not know of the former Manly Council's plans to build an underground car park under Manly Oval. In the face of overwhelming local opposition, the former council approved the development in the dead of night one day before it was sacked. Manly RFC and a number of community organisations are hoping that the new Northern Beaches Council will stop the project before it starts. In short, when finished the project will leave Manly Oval 10 metres too short, so that it will no longer be able to be used as a SS venue.

The home of Manly Rugby for over 100 years needs support. Anyone interested may sign the on-line petition below.

Didn't go back that far when I posted. I've just been back and seen it. Thanks to those from other clubs who have expressed their support.

Only in the world of local government would someone think that it's a good idea to build an underground car park at the bottom of a hill, below sea level and between busy roads.
