its just more abdication of responsibility and subcontracting out the heavy lifting. The Foundation is just a great idea.
For what part of the game does the ARU see itself as having a long term responsibility?

I, for one, will definitely be making a donation. Will you? Or are you going to abdicate your responsibility?
I would have liked this post but I juts cant accept the bolded bit.
The very reason it is the ARU who should be blamed is because it is the ARU that is responsible the overarching interests of the game - you can throw the Tahs/NSWRU in there as well: Uni, on the other hand, are charged with doing the best for uni.
Like you I have been making donations to the rugby future fund since I was 5 and will no doubt continue to do so, both directly and indirectly.
I am not the one who made the unjustified withdrawals.
Bully for you. Can you provide a list of the unjustified withdrawals?
Well, mate, all stakeholders have a responsibility for the health of the game as a whole. Especially those who are in a relatively privileged position, like the Camperdown Clique. Wouldn't it be a good thing if they could spread a bit of their wealth and power (some of which derives from the public purse, one way or another) to do something to grow the game in less privileged arreas?
We, the taxpayers, are paying for Gordon (UTS Sponsorship), Randwick (UNSW Sponsorship), Sydney Uni (Various Sydney Uni schools sponsorship), Australian 7's programme (AIS and Aust Olympic Committee sponsorship/funding) to name but a few. Most of these "taxpayer funds" are allocated following auditable and transparent business decisions made by a properly governed body empowered to make those decisions.
We, the ratepayers, are paying for nearly all clubs who enjoy access to community owned grounds, and infrastructure, most of which are rented/leased to them at well below market rates.
Incidentally, the ARU is all we've got to run the game.
and then Tony went to the Royal Oak in Balmain and Skolled a middie of Mid-strength Peroni
we were honoured to have in attendance for the special day Tony Abbott, Alan Jones, Mike Baird
Were you really.... honoured?
Brutally honest - I certainly am now, whilst I was prior I wasn't sure what to expect.
Before I go any further, rugby forum & not a political forum so if we are talking different wings they can fly elsewhere.
His job is 24 / 7 and he needs to be on the ball and ready every second. What he does aside, man that is one tough gig, and yeah I'm truly honoured.
- Function started around 12, guessing Tony left between 5 & 6 and he mingled freely though whole time.
- Find out the next day he went on and socialised at the Royal Oak, not sure what time he finished.
- Next I hear he is doing stuff in NZ, and I think shit I only met the guy yesterday how did he get there.
- Then off to Turkey.
I work hard Monday to Friday without being watched by every man, dog, possum and owl, and I get to see my family every night.
There was no show for the media because 7Two hasn't visited Manly yet, just punters who were there to enjoy rugby and he was one of them - a good bloke.
Plus Manly Rugby put on a great day.
Cheers,
I think it was Allan Jones' presence he was questioning as an honour
(But I know you Manly boys forgive him his sins)
Anzac Day at Manly;
Our home fixture versus Southern District this weekend sees the commemoration of the centenary of ANZAC 2015, and we will be hosting many of the Sporting Clubs of Manly whose members in 1915 were killed in the service of our county during the Gallipoli campaign. These local clubs held a unique record with the most volunteers to serve in WW1 of any town in Australia.
In a tribute to sporting clubs of the 1915, a special parade will march onto Manly Oval in a re-enactment of a rally for the troops held on the Oval a 100 years ago. The parade will be presented to the Mayor of Manly and short service will conclude with "The Calling of Manly’s Fallen" along with the Manly's 1915 Ceremonial Party & Piper.
The Last Post will be sounded with the various club’s "juniors & nippers" placing ribbons on the oval picket fence just before First Grade kick off at 3pm.
Dave, sounds amazing. Not sure what the plan is for Coogee this Saturday, but I'm sure it will include a bugler playing the last post. Sends tingles down my spine every time I hear it. The great thing about Rugby is you know there will actually be a minute's silence. Unfortunately the other code's supporters seem to see it as an opportunity to ensure every one in the ground can hear their shouted stupidities.
