I'll be there for what should be a cracking day of footy at Rat Park. Tipping Manly by 15+ in both 1sts and 2nds.

Just 3 rods to go befor semis. I think teh final six in each grade will remain the same until then. Uni will overtake Warringah in1st grade for 3rd position but I think all other grades will remain the same order.

Lots of rumours but shortage of facts.
I thought he was the "buy" of the year after the early rounds.
Not sure why he was dropped to 2nds, but his form certainly fell away once he was in seconds IMO.
He's clearly too good a player to be playing subbies but the rumour is that he'll be back at Wests next year OR maybe he'll come back to the Wicks depending on who the coach is next year.;)

He won't be in Australia next year................well not until at-least June anyway. My mail is he wasn't happy at Randwick with all the traveling and not getting paid and has signed a deal to go to one of the bigger clubs in Spain (I believe same club as Vaughan Lomax) end of July so he wanted to play his last few rounds where it all started for him at St Pats. He was a student at the school and will play 3 to 4 games and then head to Europe.

Dave, the boys gave us plenty to cheer about again on the weekend.. Firstly, our 2s played loosely but scored after the bell (16 phases) to bring up a bonus point win 26-25. By all accounts 1s trained bloody hard during the week - knowing that Easts had knocked off Manly the week before. Easts had a slim lead at halftime but the passes began to stick in the 2nd half just they like did against Norths. Some awesome tries and great performances from Jonno Broome, Jack Dempsey, Tom Matthews, Lucas Simkin and Matt McDougall gave us a 46-22 win. 5 wins for the year (one less that 6th-placed Parra) but a shocking lack of bonus points has us in 11th. 3 rounds to go. bring on 3 wins...;)
Great win to Gordon. Their back line was as slick as I have seen this year. Easts were clumsy in comparison. I can only assume injuries have plagued Gordon's season. Easts on the other hand don't seem to be able to pick a decent team even allowing for injuries. They occasionally win when one or two super 15 players return, but otherwise suck. What I don't get is the selection of the same players every week despite weak performances. Do the coaches know what they're doing? Did Bakewell leave because he could see the writing on the wall? Why is there the same 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 every week? Or the same 9?

Or are Easts problems partially due to their coach's departure after a few rounds?
Is my memory failing me or is this not the second time Bakewell has left mid-season?

For Gordon Matthews has been outstanding the last few rounds if he keeps going he would have to be on rep selectors radar's.

Simkin has done well since coming back and Dempsey has displayed why he is so highly rated.

Will be interesting to see what they do with Broome returning next season as Dempsey would be a 7 in professional set up I believe and Broome is very short and only really a 7.

From what I've seen, Dempsey is too tall for a 7. Broome is much better but is a tad short. I would have Dempsey at 6 and Broome at 7, and Luke Rissman if he returned at 8.

Is my memory failing me or is this not the second time Bakewell has left mid-season?

Maybe, but picking the same guys week in week out when the results are poor is hardly inspirational coaching even with a possible lack of depth. If it is not working, why keep repeating the same thing.

I'm trying to work out whether Hugh Jarse's stats support what I've just said about Easts. My impression is that the forward pack has not changed much, but there have been changes in the backs.

@Spewn, Just done the Round 15 Stats. I'll have a lash at checking out the player turn over in the Beastie piggies later in the week.

Thanks, HughJ, I find these stats make interesting reading. It would be useful to see if there is any correlation with performance and position on table. I would have thought that the bench would have been used more by teams struggling (trying to get some impact), but conversely the top teams might empty the bench if they were way on top.
