This weekends tips:

Eastern Suburbs v West Harbour - Beasties at home, bolstered with their returning Tahs. Beasts by 5-10.
Sydney University v Parramatta - Uni to sneak home after the Big Fella with the long name gives them a fright by scoring a brace of meat pies. The Corporation by 10.
Manly v Southern Districts - The MMM machine rolls on. Marlins by a stack >20.
Warringah v Randwick. Wounded wicks to rebound over complacent Rats. Wicks by < 5.
Northern Suburbs v Eastwood. Eastwood too good across the park. Woodies by 15-20
Gordon v Penrith. The Emus are on a roll. Riff by 10.

FWIW, my tips:
Wests to beat Easts, but not by much. It'd be better for the Mighty Two Blues if Easts come good.
Parra to beat Uni in what will be seen by most as an upset [ :) ], Parra by 10
Manly to run Souths ragged. Final margin dependent on the Marlins hunger but let's say 25.
Warringah to find a little of their running fun and beat Randwick by 7.
Eastwood to be too strong all over the park for Norths, winning by 10-15.
Penrith to beat Gordon, but not by a lot, let's say 7.

Of course, all of these tips are the result of a careful, impartial analysis and have nothing to do with what would be best for the Mighty Two Blues........

^^ The actual sound tape is different to what was reported in the paper. The quote was OK but not his preamble.
Yep just listened to it and the reports are clearly selective and I fully understand the comments of other ABC talking heads on the Offsiders programme . Sorry Warren we can agree on the importance of defence but "Quitten time" is the correct call in terms of your own radio career . Seems taking a hit for David Morrow may not cut it either shame that it is. There you go a bit of variation on the SS thread......

Tipping Easts to win on current form is a brave move.

My thoughts:

Wests by 10
Manly by 15
Warringah by 5
Eastwood by a lot
Penrith by 15
Parra could surprise - a toss up there

I agree, time he joined the rest of the dinosaurs.
He could have told the story and made the same point without using the offensive term. The ABC needs to move on...I'm sure if they look really hard they can find another ex-mungo "expert" who can speak reasonably coherently.

Not sure the 16/23 Wallabies are from Shute Shield is entirely accurate. Look at some examples. Hooper picked up by Brumbies straight out of school. Nic White was in Brumbies academy and got sent to Eastwood to play one season. Phipps and Foley were colts I think put into the 7s. How many SS games have they actually played? I've never really seen AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) play SS for Norths . I may well be wrong. TPN marked since school, doubt he's played many games for Parra. Again I could be wrong.

The interesting one is Fardy. A bloke who knocked around in lower grades before cracking 1sts. Couldn't get any further so went to Japan. Then got a gig with the Brumbies and then oh my God they suddenly realise he's a good player!!!

Think Easts might snatch an upset tomorrow. They've got some players back and Wests have got Alofa Alofa at 10. While I admire AA as a footballer I'm not sure that 10 is his go plus they've stuck with the slow service non tackler David Ossafua at 9. Think the Pirates may be unbuckled from their swash!

Very interesting to see a lot of people doubt the Students. They have played away a lot this season and will now finish the back end playing 5/7 remaining games at University oval. Those who were at Souths last week would agree that the win they came away with could be the turning point in their season. A gutsy defensive effort getting them over the line.

My Thoughts:

Students 40+
Eastwood 25+
Manly 30+
Warringah 1-12
Easts 15+ - Lance and McKibbon to lead the Beasts home.
Penrith by 15+ - Emu back line to fire and will make it two on the trot.

Paul i checked the list before posting and thing it is fair - i wondered if they'd try adding Izzy to the list and that wouldn't have been right.
Colts forms part of the Club Championships so Colts in my eyes is part of that comp. If Super teams and these French clubs are picking out colts why cant we say they came from the Shute.

Manly's line goes uncrossed - champion effort in D given they were down to 13 players at one stage. Only points they received were given to them by the ref.

Uni too good today for a Parra team that will be disappointed by their performances both individually and as units within the team. Will need to have a good hard look at themselves before facing Manly next week.
