Dear Paul -could not let your comments not be balanced
I can't believe that a team of poor tacklers would drop possibly the best tackler in the SS
Not sure where you get your facts from. Observations can be misleading When Wests played Randwick last week at least three forwards carried out 18 tackles each - i.e. 2, 7 and 8.
Your second comment Also some grubby post match scenes from a couple of Wests supporters towards the linesman. That's not cool. Not rugby.
Houston we have a problem resonated with me. Houston the referee was not supported well yesterday. The linesmen (relying on using his radio and not providing signals to the crowd) was arguing with one of the spectators in that the spectator told him he should be relegated to second grade. The spectator must not have known that the same linesman had refereed the second grade game!
That "particular" performance would have been greatly assisted with a TMO. For example a number of people will be waiting for the video - in that a try awarded to a 2nd grade Warringah player - allegedly- they had ran over the dead ball line. You'll probably recall it was a 24 all draw.
Perhaps that linesman may have had a glimmer of insight and his losing his own cool speaks for itself. I have heard far worse personal heckling over the years and officials not batting an eyelid - he obviously had something on his mind. Personally think he had a day he would rather forget.
As for grubby I think not - he actively contributed to making it not cool but "thats rugby". A number of things happened that took victory away from Wests or worked against them - kicking / not kicking decisions among them - cards fast tracked the inevitable. I personally thought the bench could have been used more - I am sure the coach has his reasons. Tackling does become a problem when you are two men down in any team - it all becomes about numbers and overlaps.
All in all I thought Wests played well - and were the better team on the day - they will have learnt a lot from the experience.
