And BellyTwoBlues there were complaints, at least from me and a couple of others over in the Colts thread, when the rumour (as it later transpired that it was apparently a done deal) that a number of rounds in Colts 3 was to be cut. Fortunately this silliness was revoked.

Seriously it really makes you wonder about the mob in charge of our game at times.

But I would have thought the objective in your second para could have been achieved without the July split round simply by playing one less round in Colts or reducing the Colts playoffs to 5 or 6 teams instead of 8.

I think any finals model from 5 to 8 teams would take the same number of rounds.

You could cut to 4, but in a 12 team league (I think?) that's pretty stiff.

9 uni players in the run on Tah's team for Sunday's game v Force plus Talaki under consideration for the bench (Wallaby squad not available).

Wow!
Probably a biased opinion but surely Toa Asa has to be in the reckoning somewhere with all the wallabies out. Talaki under consideration at tahs and metcher picked for the force. Would have thought that Toa was a better player?

Toa Asa is not a good scrummager, good ball runner
Didn't the Parramatta scrum take the Randwick scrum apart?
The scrum was soundly dominated by parra yes. This in a game where tatafu played the 80 and randwick had to back rowers in the second row due too a shortage. The randwick scrum has since gone on to hold it's own and also dominated the souths scrum featuring metcher

agree.......... Niggly is more of a complement nowdays......at least i hope so..my family's all halfbacks....

The Home game for Gordon @ Chatswood this week will feature five games. We are moving 3rds and 4ths forward to accommodate Colts.

Should be a good day

Great initiative Gibbo!
Really looking forward to seeing the Colts in action -- a rare treat!
Must be a challenge to get the 4s out of bed and warmed up for a 9am kick off though!

Great idea Gibbo.

This may be something that all clubs could look at.
For example one round a season. Say on the back to Parramatta day , or back to Randwick day etc

With a specific date , The game would be able to be scheduled at the start of the Shute Shield season , this would enable plenty of notice for the earlier grades to have start times amended.

Also 1st grade colts would also have plenty of notice for the scheduled venue Which would have the home side playing at home, instead of away on that day.

This would be good exposure for the colts while also benefiting them to play in front of a larger crowd and being a part of the day with the grade teams

Being held on the back to Parra or Noths etc day..You would have the old boys , grade games and 1st grade colts at the one oval.

All with one thing in common. Club Pride

The Rats and Marlins have been doing this for the last several years - great for the fans , u/20 players and a real bonus for the gate . Marlins have done it with Uni in the past too.

3's and 4's often have a whinge but sales of coffee good so yes Gibbo get the coffee cart open and has ben remarked before extra beer and pies essential to sustain the lads till 4:30. If colts 1's are the curtain raiser some ego's can be a bit bruised in 2's and the bench cramps up but ultimately it is all about one club and as Wazza says pride.

Admittedly parking around Chatswood oval is not a bit of a lottery, but you are in a glasshouse regarding parking around your hallowed Coogee Oval.

Edit: didn't make sense with that "not" in there.

Suppose I deserved that!
I usually drive to Chatswood but planned to leave the car at home and get the train to Allianz afterwards to avoid paying a weeks salary to park at Moore Park. Hopefully Mrs Coach will drive me and I'll be able to bum a lift to the Lions game.

Coach - note the other posts that the trains are not running from Chatswood on Saturday.
cheers

Todays Manly Daily reports that the Rebels aren't releasing players this weekend. What a joke. A showcase game loses the following players.
Manly
Jordy Reid
Kimami Sitauti
Caderyn Neville
Luke Jones
Pat Leafa
Uni
Trent Dyer
Tim Davidson
Alex Rokobaro
Nick Stirzaker
Tom English
Angus Roberts
Lachie Mitchell
Mitch Inman
Jarrod Saffy
Laurie Weeks.
What a joke. I wonder what the Force guys will be doing. I hear the Cottlesloe vs Nedlands game will be a better chance to develop their Sydney players than thisone or any of the other ones happening in Sydney this weekend.
