Congratulations to Gordon who played a very intelligent game of Rugby to win over the Two Blues at Merrylands RSL Club Rugby Park today, leaving the Two Blues to rely on other results from here on in. Score 18-29.

Manly Ladies day this weekend against Easts.

A film clip from 2012 - hope it works.

Some quality players in the listed teams, worth getting down to the ground early.

Quality does not equal cohesion. Manly played like a bunch of strangers today (and in many ways they were ) , line out dreadful after Neville went off and Easts who were competitive at the break down all day scored last minute try to grab bonus point - we'll take the 26 - 22 win but a lot of work to do to win the derby next week. Best for mine for MMM's Ale , Porecki, Reid and Woodhouse.

Does anyone know what happened to the 2Blues team that smashed Manly in Round 1? Is something rotten in Denmark? Or is it mass injuries?

Seven changes from the team that played Manly as compared to the team that played Gordon - mostly injuries (including a number of long term injuries). It's been a difficult year. I wouldn't say that the injury toll has been the sole cause of our misery - some players have not performed as they would have hoped. But the season is not over yet and we hope to put some respectability back into our results over the remaining rounds. Eastwood next week though.

Another great day down at the Village Green (all bar 20 minutes of rain that saw all the ladies run for the Marquee. A good crowd sat under the Saucer, and stood across the Eastern touchline to watch some of the returning Super Players.

Derby next weekend, and rats just pipped the Wicks

I hear 4’s lost.

3s was a good tussle between to teams sitting equal 4th on the table, Manly was the stronger across the park and won with a bonus point.

2s the monster forward pack (unfortunately Pat Leafa couldn’t make it) showed there muscle and destroyed the Beasties scrum on a number of occasions. Went to the break with 30+ on the scoreboard and the score line could have been anything. A few changes, an injury to Pete Gilmore and a resurgence from Easts saw them climb in the second half back but Manly were always safe. Joe Christe & BJ were strong in attack.

1’s. A real defensive battle by both teams, Manly left about 3 tries out there in the first half when attacking phases and try scoring opportunities were not completed.

The set pieces were even, we had better go forward in the rucks and malls (in close & a little wider), and our backs had the better of the attack.

Matt Lucas’s crisp passing had our backs hitting the line, new centre pairing Malie & Sef (back from injury) will only improve, and our finishers created a number of opportunities yesterday but they were left out on the field. Didn’t like seeing those 3 tries let in in the last 20 minutes, it distorted the score line.

Strong performances from Kotoni, Jordy, Porecki, Caderyn, & Lucas.

In summary, the score line could / should have ready Manly + another 3 tries, East’s minus 1 or 2 tries, we need to finish off scoring opportunities that we create.

I think i heard over the speaker yesterday colts came home with 3 from 3,

2nd place on the Club Championships is still achievable.

All teams are on track for the finals.

Glad we agree on best players Dave but you are an easier marker than me . Derby will be a cracker

Does anyone know which players from Eastwood are leaving as mentioned on the ABC on the weekend?
I thought Lachlan McCafferay made a good point in his post game interview how eastwood have been minor premiers for past 4 years yet have had no one new contracted at NSW. Clearly Shute Shield form isn't important

It was a good point, but maybe it underlines what I have thought about Eastwood for some time ie they are a great team because they play as a team and there are no standout individuals. Having said that I do think that Mitch Lees and Jared Barry are both worthy of Super contracts.

Maybe sign up the coach then ? Haha . Would definitely help get a few more Eastwoods players in Super Rugby if the Melbourne franchise is a example.

Steve Cummins is also a good prospect. Not sure what the situation is regarding Damien Fitzpatrick. I would have expected him to be on the Tahs' tour.

It seems that the Woodies just chug along like an old Caterpillar engine - dependable and reliable but nothing spectacular as the coach has said.

I think Steve Cummins is a good prospect but think that he has been hit by some injuries of late. He showed a lot of promise as Capt of the Schoolboys and in his first year of Colts.
