With today's jerseys it seems more difficult to determine how many Super 15 players (particularly forwards) wear shoulder pads or other body armour/protection...thoughts?

Well I can definitely tell Habana wears them. But he's a back.

Just a guess but I'd say there are still a fair number of forwards that wear shoulder guards. Interesting question, I'd like to know the % of who do & don't in the Super Rugby forwards.

Aint it part of the body armor they normally wear underneath the jerseys?

Don't know - doesn't look like Tatafu or Pocock wear anything but can't be certain?

In juniors guys were then because it appeases their Mums but in seniors they really only help people who have AC troubles. Sure some shoulder pads guard other areas (like biceps) but it certain seems like you could just wear a bicep guard.

For example I have collarbone sticking out of both of my shoulders due to both genetics and injuries. It's easier to wear shoulderpads then doing what the physio has done in the past (which was essentially sticking foam padding on manually).

I used to wear them, having 120kg Samoans running into your shoulders 20 times a match will do that to you

Agree with both querty51 & Schadenfreude .....but these days I don't think you can tell who is and isn't wearing them. Perhaps today's pads are more subtle than the pillow sized ones of old?
