Going to be tough on them. Last time they had this start they made the semis but maybe not this time. See now they may lose the Doep broers to the Lions and the midfield a bit weak.Blue said:Biffo said:PB, you expect the Sharks to make the semis?
Dear oh dear I only saw that draw now. These are the Sharkies opening games:
Crusaders, Waratahs, Brumbies, Highlanders and Hurricanes in that order
Oi. Talk about a bitch of a start. They could be gooonnnneee before they even play a home game....
I think they are no chance to make a semi.
Think there is something wrong in camp Shark, maybe Straulies poison strike now.Sharks recruit Meyer retires
Durban - Steve Meyer, recruited mere weeks ago to fill the flyhalf hole at the Sharks, has announced his retirement from rugby with immediate effect.
Due to personal reasons, Meyer has requested that the Sharks release him from his contract and will not be available this weekend against the Chiefs.
Sharks CEO Brian van Zyl added, “Whilst this has come at an inopportune time, we respect his decision and have agreed to release him. It is fortunate that we have a number of players who can fill this position until such time as alternative arrangements can be made.”
England flyhalf Andy Goode will link up with the Sharks ahead of their Australasian tour.
The Durban franchise has already lost Juan Martinez to injury and Steve Meyer to an untimely retirement, but have not given up in their quest for a competent flyhalf. Ruan Pienaar will wear the No 10 jersey against the Cheetahs, but Goode could be playing pivot on the Sharks’ five-match tour Down Under.
The 29-year-old is currently contracted to French club Brive and at this point in time is only available for the Sharks’ five-game tour. The Sharks have a tough draw playing the Crusaders, Waratahs, Brumbies, Highlanders and Hurricanes in successive weeks.
The Sharks also recently sent out an SOS that was answered by the Bulls, and lock Wilhem Steenkamp will join the Durban side for the rest of the season.

Dunno pretty sad, they have the DuMont that is horse shite from way back when, they poached Len Olivier from the Valke two years ago and sort of distroy his career and they have a young Cronje twin. To get Goode who I dont rate at all is just plain stupid. He is the sort of 10 they dont need at all. They have a more then capable backline full of Bokke , they need a 10 that can attack but they still vok with a hasbeen snail from Pomland. The quicker they get Rudolf Straulie out of their system the better. He is shitter then shite and they dont have the same schoolboy base or Varsity Cup teams to strengthen their structure to produce good players.Blue said:PaarlBok said:Hell now things are getting desperate in Shark camp. Goode will suit the Sharks style of play which isn't flash - simple, direct rugby. He is organised, has a good boot and most importantly is experienced so will pick up quickly. They needed someone and this is as good as it's gonna get.
