I did not see Folau play league, but given that he came straight across from AFL to training with the Waratahs, he does look a bit under-weight to me. Obviously muscle mass is far more important in our game than it is in the AFL, and he will not be able to build up a bit until he stops training, and can spend a month or three in the gym. By which time, no doubt, he will be back with the mungoes.
There are some huge differences that he has to get used to, not just the rules - which most of us do not understand frankly, or perhaps it is better to say that the interpretations can be a bit puzzling - but also the contest for possession in our game, the amount of work that every player is required to do off the ball, the fact that the ball-carrier can be attacked after the tackle (totally different to league), the unpredictable nature of our game, the requirement to play both sides of the field, etc etc.
Anybody who doubts that we need some drawcards should have a look at the ratings for the weekend.
