No but from 2024 there's only 12 teams so this Series not only does the 15th-placed core team get relegated but the 12th, 13th & 14th go into a four-way comp with the winner of the 2023 Challenger Series: winner of that becomes core team 12, rest go into Challenger Series.

^ first thing I thought of: Team GB's raison d'être is the Olympics so wouldn't it be wonderfully ironic if they had to go through the repechage (only top four from this Series plus France are guaranteed a spot in Paris).

NZ v Spain in one 9th place SF, Canada v England in the other.

Fiji v SA in Cup QF3 would ordinarily be very very tasty but SA seem to have gone backwards a bit compared to where they were at two or three years ago. Would love to see Ireland get a medal (not at the expense of Australia, of course ;)), they've come a long way in the short time they've been taking 7's seriously.

Edit: Samoa through in GP. Brian Lima has really got those guys playing at if not above their natural ceiling .

Australia with a lot of work to do here & somewhat lucky Malouf is able to come back out, I've seen that sort of malarkey result in RC before.

Imagine if Ref hadn't changed his mind about the slapdown... Great win Australia, must be Malouf's shout when they get back to the hotel.

After a try in the first minute....I was expecting another Fiji mauling.
An Aus win coupled with SA and NZ early exits makes this an unbelievable result.
