Challenger Series Day 3

Women
SF Belgium 22-5 China, SA 24-0 Czechia
GF SA 17-14 Belgium

SA confirmed as the 12th team in the 2024 World Series

Men
SF Tonga 33-26 Germany, Belgium 17-14 Chile
GF Belgium 28-26 Tonga

Tonga win on aggregate points & qualify to play off for the 12th position in the 2024 World Series in London on 20-21 May where they'll be joined by three of Uruguay (49 WS points heading into the final Leg), Spain (48), Kenya (37), Canada (24) & Japan (16).

Per previous posts, provided Tonga can send their best 13 & keep all of them available (discipline has been their downfall on occasion) I reckon they'll take out the playoff.

NZ Women through to QF meaning they'll win the Series regardless of what happens from here.

NZ men also through & I believe *only* need to win the Leg or if not finish two places above Argentina to win the Series here with a Leg to spare. Would end a long drought having not won a full Series since 2014.

Looks like Samoa will struggle to make the knock out phases in this leg and RSA could also potentially bundle out.
Still decent odds both Samoa and the Saffas make the quarters.

Samoa have the players to beat Australia. Hopefully they don't, but they could.

And South Africa have some experienced players back from injury now. They've already beaten Fiji in their pool. If they win against the Seppos, they make the quarters.

If Ireland, who have struggled to score recently, don't beat Japan by 20 then Samoa make the knockouts by winning against us.

Even Ireland winning by 32 still means Samoa make it if they beat us by 14.

Men’s team really blew opportunity to all but guarantee automatic Olympics spot. Beat Canada and they would have had close to a 10pt advantage into the last round. Still if they can beat RSA it will go a long way to rectifying things and pretty much eliminate them from contention.
