what we've got to remember is that there are no bonus points anymore lads. Four tries schmour tries. It's purely about points on the board at the end of the game.

I wonder how this will effect how the Tahs play? Berricks goal kicking could be very very key!

The Tahs have played shit all season when they have played safe, they need to have a go and attack, ball in hand all game to win.

I think the Tahs making better use of the attacking kick will keep the Stormers defense in two minds. If the players creep up, the tahs can kick past them (and have a good try percentage rate when they do) and if the Stormers sit back expecting kicks, the Tahs have shown they can run it.

We'll have a good chance!

Yeah I was amazed how well that worked for the against the Hurricanes, who it must be said, is a dumb team. They kept pushing up and the Tahs kept chipping and it worked. Dolts.

The Stormers tend to drift more on defense so I wonder if chip kicks will be as effective.

Another reason it will be hard is becuase from broken play, the Stormers run a "second' defensive line. Watch Duvehage and the loosies. Two loosies will chase the play, the other one along with Duvenhage runs into position behind the first line, tracking the ball. They run the risk of less bodies at contact but boy it has worked a treat. A guys slips through and there's a second chance to get him. It was very evident in the Sharks game.

Teams who strighten the line will have a better chance against them. There's no space on the outside and the second line nullifies the chip kick. Wrong foot'em.

Ah yes, name calling. why don't we stop calling eachother's team names until the end of the game okay?
I don't think that's name calling, in fact I suspect it's derived from Boytjies meaning the Boys or Mates (though, I'm terrible at Afrikaans).

7 days? I'll be thrashwanking for at least 70 days, probably closer to 700 if we win the final..

OK Waratah supporters, enough of the pleasantries: come next Saturday, how are we going to roll these c*nts?
Hey no name calling, requested by your nr 1 Tah supporter. If you want to do that head over to PR, thats where I go if I want to speak my favourate Namaqualands language.

Moses you right "tjie" mean in Boer the smaller version. Blou help bietjie man,

If the Tahs wants to beat us , they'll have to grunt us in the forwards.

That's just Australian for "the team we are playing next week" (as in that seminal work on the subject by one Van Humphries: "C*nts I've Rolled").

I believe the word you are looking for is "diminutive"

Us Dutchmen like to use it a lot, much like Australian's like to plonk an "o" on the back of things like "smoko".

While it can be used in sarcasm, that was not Paarl's intention. He was trying to spread some love ;)

Nice analysis there Blue.

Pick 'n go and odd rolling maul is the way to go to get behind those lines and suck some of those bodies in. Problem is Stormers have some great defensive cattle in the likes of hamburglar and Bekker. Too much meerkat from Burgess and we're gone.

Obvious the Stormers success this year is build around good defense and dissipline. Schalkie , who had a yellow card magnet on him, suddenly decided to play some good rugby this year and look like the captaincy role has fit in well with his play.

Luckily the match is in SA so no bad-sportsmanlike booing for drop goals then ;)

Fitness will be a big factor I think, as getting through the defensive lines of either team will likely be a challenge without a 'nothing held back' onslaught. That kind of game can really sap the energy.

The other issue is what the Waratahs do with defensive lineouts. The Stormers lineout is strong, and it will only get stronger if their throws are not contested (at least some of the time). Attacking their lineout, at least in some way, is the only way to go for me. If there is any chance (however slim) of putting them off, it must be taken.

Put a rugby ball in his hands and the huge mitts of an opposition loosie entering the frame and his own mother couldn't tell them apart.

FWIW I think the Tahs will be thoroughly dominated up front and lose, though the scoreboard may well flatter them and allow Hickey et al to waffle about missed opportunities.

My pleasure Boet, you lot sound a bit negative here. Think its going to be a hell of a battle.

Some strange weather this side, last week we had rain all week, this week it feel like summer, no cold front moving in and just hoping it stay this way.

I'll never forgot two years back when we needed a win to make the semis and the Tahs hunted us down to came short 1 point for a semi place in the end. Hope the Stormer players remember that one.

Good stuff guys. Sounds like the chip kick will be death against 2 lines of defence. I have been riding the Tahs for weeks for get the pick'n'go happening but they don't seem to have confidence in it.
