Scotland vs Australia - Murrayfield, 8 Nov 1:15AM AEDT

Lots of paper talk that Cooper will miss the game along with Kerevi and McMahon. We are running out of reserves. Maybe we will need Beale and Morahan just to fill the 23!

Just watched the London Irish game which has a lot of aussies in it. Curtis Rona played quite well, could be another option if desperate, covers wing and centers

I’d say bring Beale and Duncan Paia'Aua in. The latter has recent experience with the squad and Beale just has a bucketload of test experience and is in excellent form. Losing Cooper and Kerevi is a blow. We need to choose replacements that are familiar with the setup and/or bring something of value at test level.

I kind of want to see Petaia given a run at 15. I didn't think Kellaway was as effective at the back and he's basically our most important attacking weapon now.

Plus Petaia is good under the high ball and seems to have a decent boot, though he rarely uses it.

My team:

1. Slipper
2. Latu
3. Thor
4. Rodda
5. Arnold
6. Swinton
7. Hooper
8. Valetini
9. White
10. JOC (James O'Connor)
11. Kellaway
12. Paisami
13. Ikitau
14. Wright
15. Petaia
16. FF (Folau Fainga'a) (FF (Folau Fainga'a) to start/ Kaitu'u to 16 if Rennie doesn't think Latu is ready)
17. Bell
18. AAA
19. Skelton
20. Samu
21. McDermott
22. Beale
23. Perese

Some very interesting selections coming. Will be interested to see if Rennie selects the European based players straight away or if we waits for them to learn the systems.

This backline doesn't fill me with much confidence......

I think if you have Skelton on the bench you'd probably want someone like Leota as the back-up loosie over Samu.

I think it's unlikely for any of the recent call-ups to be included in the 23 for Scotland. I'm not even sure that Arnold, Skelton and Latu are available for this match. But, if they are, they are more likely in my opin ion to just be squad members while they learn the ropes under Rennie. Similar, I think, to the way Rennie brought Quade and Kerevi into the team after a few weeks in the squad.

I think we might see:

1. Slipper
2. Fainga'a
3. Tupou
4. Swain
5. Philip
6. Leota
7. Hooper
8. Valetini
9. White
10. JOC (James O'Connor)
11. Petaia
12. Paisami
13. Ikitau
14. Wright
15. Kellaway

though I wouldn't mind 11. Wright, 14. Kellaway, 15. Petaia.

16. McInerney
17. Bell
18. Ala'alatoa
19. Rodda
20. McDermott
21. Paia'Aua
22. Perese

This does support the idea will see Paia'aua, but if he is picked as the back up 10 I think we're more likely to see Daugunu with him on the bench.

Noah on the way and will be on the bench you would think. There is room there for Beale as well as the reserve back 3 player.
I would guess that Latu will get a run off the bench if ready, Arnold as well maybe but it is hard to fault our three current 23 locks.

Samu is good in the lineout. 6. Swinton with Pete on the pine.
