Just watched an Utube video of Joe Schmidt interview, who said that the training grounds were frozen minimizing training, & that they have only had the one open field run at Murrayfield thanks to the SRU . Because TT has'nt had an opportunity to show his availability, hence he has been further rested.

well, we get to see whether playing with one primary lineout jumper gets to work. This will be crucial in this game. If it goes to shit, then LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) will have to come on early, for either Skelton or Wilson. In the former case, to partner Williams in the second row, and otherwise to play 6 with Valetini moving to 8. It does look like a gamble to me, and we'll have to hope that Williams doesn't suffer an injury or we'll still be down to one primary jumper.

Definitely a gamble from where I sit, though I'm building confidence that Schmidt sees it differently.

From recollection Williams wears #5 when he partners Frost? I'm wondering if he is considered the better scrummager to back up Bell?

I think we can expect more line out action from Valetini and Wilson, and few (if any) WB line outs attacking Scot-throws until LSL (Lukhan Salakaia-Loto) is on. Mauls are fine but you have to catch the bloody pill first. Others have mentioned a kicking game aimed to avoid touch and to be focused on possession.

Who is calling the throws?

Lets see how we go against the Scots and what, if any, injuries or niggles we pick up. Next weeks game will be huge and there's some guys like Ikitau and Bell who need to come through OK.

Scotland team: 15. Blair Kinghorn, 14. Darcy Graham, 13. Huw Jones, 12. Sione Tuipulotu (c), 11. Duhan van der Merwe, 10. Finn Russell, 9. Ben White, 8. Matt Fagerson, 7. Rory Darge, 6. Jamie Ritchie, 5. Scott Cummings, 4. Grant Gilchrist, 3. Zander Fagerson, 2. Ewan Ashman, 1. Pierre Schoeman. Replacements: 16. Dylan Richardson, 17. Rory Sutherland, 18. Will Hurd, 19. Alex Craig, 20. Josh Bayliss, 21. George Horne, 22. Tom Jordan, 23. Kyle Rowe

Nearly full strength team, Scotland deserved favourites. I imagine the test caps total difference between the two teams would be stark.

And snow is the forecast. Dreadful conditions for rugby,

Why are they deserved favourites

we're coming off a record win v Wales (who Scotland beat by a point), and a terrific win v England

Scotland have only played against one Tier 1 side since March where they failed to score a try

They also barely beat Uruguay and lost to Italy

We beat them last time in Scotland not long before Rennie got sacked

if we lose it’s because of the same inconsistency and inability to win close games not because they’re a much better side
