Grammar now being the only one.
Of course they give other types of scholarships which have nothing to do with providing opportunities to the less fortunate footballers in this cruel world.
May be some modernising going on there too from what I hear.
Once you cross the Rubicon there’s no going back, I suppose. They haven't yet crossed the threshold though as our friends from Northbridge have. Clearly they have no experience in these matters - advertising in the newspaper for talent no less. The ad itself is a breach of the code as it clearly elevates those with sporting talent above those poor souls whose offspring have been on the waiting list since the cradle. Not sure of the size of the Year 11 intake, but I'd be extremely surprised if they couldn't have found the same number of boys from the waiting list who were willing and able to go to Shore for 11 and 12.
Do you have to go Wolseley Road Point Piper to do that?Once you cross the Rubicon there’s no going back, I suppose.

So being there at this time, and being involved in scholarship selection process, what happened when the then halfback signed a league contract and wanted to leave your school? You see Southsider, I actually have had the pleasure some years ago in 2011 of being involved in a scholarship selection process for one young man.I was invited by his parents who knew I was an Old Boy of the school, to act as potential referee for him. At the time I was his teacher and had been since 2009. As a referee, the family asked that I comment about his OVERALL suitability for entry into Newington College. This included not just his Rugby ability, but his interests in the Arts, Drama and other contributions such as life in the Boarding House. Because,if Newington is offering scholarships it needs to know the suitability of a boy, based on his compatibility to Newington's Ethos. Also the school is making a considerable investment and as such needs to know he will be happy in its environment. As there have been numerous scholarship failure over the years, because boys were chosen on a simple one dimensional aspect for entry into a school. So, Southsider,if I find your interpretation of the Merit based scholarships awarded at Newington, to be based somewhat on ignorance, its because I have the benefit of experience into the selection process. Something you clearly do not possess. So rather than" Blowing it out the proverbial", please make informed comments.

Where is that halfback now?

Metropolitan cup? is that what its called? His ship has sailed, then.
