Was the Scots production designed as a promo for the school or the coaching staff? Judging from the narration it was a professional paid promo, rather than a student production. I mean seriously, they've beaten Cranbrook 18 times out of 19, which means even when they were being beaten by Grammar in GPS matches they still beat Cranbrook. I'd like to know the final score - even fast forwarding it all I saw was Scots scoring.

Unhelpful observation - we don't need IS, Cyclo, and Strokeside wasting time compiling win/loss stats for the past 48 years. I think you will find Grammar were pretty competitive for most of the seventies. A random stat - Grammar has beaten Scots 9 out last 15 HOTRs with 1 win and 5 podium finishes.

When the school decided to be an educational facility many years ago. it seems to have worked a treat, wouldn't you say?
That bloody song of the Sirens... Happy New Year all.
I wouldn't waste my fucking time, that's for sure. What's the point? None. For one thing, it matters not a bit, and for another, there is no point debating a point with someone with such an entrenched view (and obvious dislike for the school)?

They used to beat Scots regularly, until the Lambert era that is.
EDIT: And the fact that Scots were regular basketball wooden-spooners until quite recently, it's quite likely that Grammar beat them reguarly in that sport as well.

GPS premiers in 85, 86, 99, 2000, 2001 and 2004 plus all the recent premierships of which i loose count ....... not regular wooden spooners ....... but again lets never let the truth or facts get in the way of a good Scots bashing storey...........

A school that does well in the HSC by selecting its students with an entrance exam does your boy much harm. He will not suddenly learn Calculus or Catulus by osmosis. His personal marks will be given to another's ATAR. The school that offers a scholarship to a prop to keep the scrum from collapsing is a nice way of saying to you that your boy can't make it at this stage. Why is this such a perennial problem?

If we are strictly talking ATARs,then a child who sees an influx of maths geniuses in his year,will benefit greatly.
The same poor child who sees an influx of super strong props,who can't count,will see his same efforts hampered substantially.
...Unless those props are encouraged not to sit those exams.....

That's the myth they try to sell us. If your boy likes rugby, and is going to get an ATAR of 70 - 90 say, depending on how engaged he is, you are not helping him by placing him in an environment that puts him in the lower half of the year. Much better where he is in the top half and gives himself a challenge and is given the better academic resources. Taking pride in a school's academic performance when that school has merely held an entrance test is self defeating if he would have done better elsewhere. What holds for sporting scholarships holds tenfold for academic selection. If Shore, SGS et al want to look good then fine, but looking good is not synonymous with your boy achieving his best ATAR.
