It's a business. Like any other. Became that when players started getting paid. You can't just have the good bits. The warts come along.
Yet we hear nothing bout turn overs or business related things just political maneuvers to get to the top.

No not true Boetie. You have to remember WP is settle in Newlands, so is Saru and Rassie and Jurie is pretty close, they work that one out. Big loss for Paarl Gym if Louis Koen goes, he did some excellent work with the schoolboys.
How did a school afford him?

He is sport manager. Braaied there last night and he had a speech for us at the start of our winter sport season. Been here for just over a year. Louis is an x Paarl Gim boy, coached at WP, Boland and end up at Paarl Gym. He is doing some great work at Paarl Gym and will continue. Probably will act as kicking coach at the Bokke in Percy's place as a consultant. I do know Sias Ebersohn came specially down here when he had problems with his place kicking. Louis have an excellent work rate and will fit in well with Meyer. He played for Meyer at the Brutes and they know each other well.

Louis team at Paarl Gym includes a rugby, cricket and hockey organiser working full time for the school.

Are Corne Krige still looking out for him? Especially big objects running at him?

Not sure what you talking here? Corne is a Paarl GalPil. You probably means Andre Petoors.
No lol was referring to when they played for WP. When Krige got injured he was exploited with his defence so much that they moved Christian Steward to flyhalf.

Righto and on we go!

Bulls brains trust for Boks

SARU announced on Friday that an agreement has been reached which allows them to negotiate with four coaches employed by the Blue Bulls, with coach Heyneke Meyer's support staff set to be revealed on Sunday.

The new Springbok mentor hit a snag in assembling his management team, as the coaches that he wants to involve are still under contract with his former union the Bulls, but it would appear that he now has the green light to sign them up.

SARU will hold a press conference on Sunday at which they will update the media on the the appointment of a Springbok management team and other SARU appointments, with whom negotiations remain ongoing.

This means that it is very likely that Meyer will be able to unveil Bulls fitness trainer Basil Carzis as his conditioning expert, Bulls defence specialist John McFarland as his defensive consultant, and Bulls assistant coaches Johan van Graan and Ricardo Loubscher as his forwards and backline coaches respectively.

The only guy I really want to see in the job is Nienaber. The rest don't bother me much. Neither here nor there.

Paarlbok

I heard that Nienaber was only prepred to go to the Bosk if Rassie was involved. Is this true or just a story?

I suppose Nienaber knows he will get the job once Coetzee becomes the next Bok coach, which we all know for sure he will. At some stage.

At least now we can move on which is good.

Sounds like a very sensible list of specialists, and specialist positions. Delighted that Meyer is wise enough not to be tempted by the nomenclature for such assistant coaches as beloved by our Robble and Nucifora who have pioneered terms such a 'skills coach' and 'coaching co-ordinator' and that whereby no one here to this day quite knows what these titles mean, and what the coaches so entitled actually do.

The South African Rugby Union have announced the appointment of Rassie Erasmus into a senior management position at the organisation.

Erasmus has been appointed at SARU to fill the vacant position of General Manager: High Performance Teams. He will also be seconded to the Springboks when they are in camp.

"Rassie is one of the most astute brains in world rugby - his appointment at SARU will ensure we have the best possible leadership at our national teams. He will work with all the national teams, but will be involved with the Springboks while they are in camp," said SARU CEO Jurie Roux.

"Our aim is to always produce winning teams and Rassie's main task will be to establish structures to do this. He will be tasked to create a blueprint for South African rugby that can be implemented from junior to senior level, for our mens', women's and sevens' teams."

Springbok head coach Heyneke Meyer said he was very happy with Erasmus' appointment at SARU and that he was looking forward to working with the former Springbok loose forward.

"Rassie's inputs to the Springboks last year were lauded by everyone I spoke to and his coaching pedigree speaks for itself, considering the vast amount of success he's had at the Cheetahs and Western Province," said Meyer.

"I'm excited to have him on board and I know he will add value to rugby in South Africa, which is ultimately what his job will be."

Roux also announced that SARU have entered into formal negotiations with Bulls forwards coach Johann van Graan, former Springbok full-back and Blue Bulls backline coach Ricardo Loubscher, Bulls defence coach John McFarland and Bulls conditioning coach Basil Carzis.

SARU are also keen to secure the services of Cheetahs conditioning coach Niel du Plessis, former Springbok fly-half and Paarl Gymnasium Director of Sport Louis Koen, former French prop Pieter de Villiers and Ian Schwartz, High Performance Manager of the Blue Bulls.

Furthermore, three members of the Springbok medical team from the last four years, Dr Craig Roberts (team doctor), Vivian Verwant (physiotherapist) and Daliah Hurwitz (masseuse) have been re-appointed.

The rest of the management team will consist of Charles Wessels (Operational Head), Annelee Murray (PR and Admin Manager), JJ Fredericks (Logistics), Albé Visser (Technical Analyst) and De Jongh Borchardt (Communications Manager).

"It's no secret that the negotiations around the Springbok assistant coaches positions have taken longer than we had hoped, but we want to give Heyneke the team that he sees as the best for doing the job," said Roux.

"I'm very pleased that the process of securing the services of the right people is now in full swing and we're confident that negotiations will be concluded soon as the Castle Lager Incoming Tour against England looms large.

"We know the people identified by Heyneke are the best in the business and we've worked very hard behind the scenes to secure their services to Springbok rugby. An announcement in this regard will be made very soon."

Meyer added: "At this stage, I can't really comment on the process, but I would like to thank SARU for the effort they've put in to getting the people I've identified to be part of my management.
"I have worked closely with most of the people while others have come very highly regarded and I'm confident the Springboks will benefit from their involvement. We will work well together as a team and will hit the ground running in the short turnaround for the first Test against England."

Yip. Got the match report in the Argentina thread. Boland shocked the Sharks as well. But WP look very good this year. Seems like theres a lot of depth in the Cape.

OK should follow you on those threads. WP & Boland have lots of depth making the Stormers franchise. Blame it on the Varsity Cup.

SA has always see the Pumas as our small Boet. Since Doc Craven days and played a huge role in get rugby going in your country. The Pampas give the Vodacom another colour to it and a sad Namibia could not get their admin shorted to play in this.

Dont you just hate it when you spent 40 min creating a nice informative post and the browser crash.

Yeah it is better for the selectors to choose from as the Jaguar players played two games against Chile or so scoring 140 points which does not show the players ability. Vodacom cup is a nice gateway to bigger things for them

I think the Pampas do pretty well. Never underestimate the Vodacom Cup. If you take into account the Pampa players are all playing in Argentinia's local competition and not a single NH one. Cant be easy for these players to play in another country and be so long away from home. Pretty sure we'll see in 18 years time some mix Argentine fatties run around at Paul Roos following Ginga Kitshoff footsteps. ;)

As ridiculous as it sounds it appears driven by our need to find a good leader. Now that the natural choice, Juan Smith is out of the running.

Bekker would be a good option but he does appear to be a little injury prone. I would also presume that Meyer would like to use a captain that's used to his style for the England series as we'll be short on preparation time. If Bismarck just wasn't that darn good we could have had our first black cappie in Chilliboy.
