Whatta mother of a boere hiding on Jac Kallis boys and at Wynberg. ;) One positive for Wynberg is that their U16s beat Gim, and Gim have a very good U16 side who have beaten all the big guns (including Grey Bloem) this year.

This weekend we go to Sacs and they can expect the same thing. Saw Bishops just beat Stellenberg in Eversdal.

I'll be at Rondebosch on friday and saturday, our kiddies have a sleepover weekend there and my kid is very exciting because they'll play on WPCC's astro on friday.

Ja Maties beat them the other day in a WP Groot Uitdaag Troffee game also. Paarl Gim play this weekend against Sacs and next week against Bishops in Paarl. Expect a biggie. Myself will travel tomorrow to Rondebosch, Janlu will play against them on WPCC astro and is quite exciting about it. Myself not so optimistic because they will play without their three Boland players and a big ask for them.

This weekend us Bloedworse (Blood Sausage) Paarl Gym lot will recieve the Slaapstad souties, Bishops lot. Going to be a real hard make or break battle. Bishops have been in top notch this year.

PB, Looking forward to that one. Your boys have certainly been on fire recently and my boys seem to have gone to sleep in their last few games. Put a virtual bottle of Roodeberg on the result. I cant say I feel too confident.

Sorry Baldrich, Gimmies did it in a very close manner Boet, myself even more surprise with our hockey lot. Gim now have their astro in their second year and their U14s and 16s beating Bishops, the U19s ran them vclose and conceed 2 goals in the final minute to lose 4-1. Think that show our hockey is on the up because Bishops have a very strong hockey team.

The report of the match from Rugby365
Gim win thriller in Paarl
Mon, 31 May 2010 17:47

What a great and glorious match in Paarl! Paarl Gim played Bishops, 2 versus 3 on the FNB Top 20 Schools rankings, and No.2 won by two points in a seven-try thriller.

It was a happy day in the winter sunshine. The two schools have not been on good terms of late but this match could well have destroyed unpleasantries and got things back onto a sensible keel. In fact it was a friendly, sporting event.

It was a strange match - not at all in keeping with the past strengths of the two great schools. This time it was the Bishops pack and the Gim backs who had the upperhand, a reversal of traditional ways of playing.

Either side could have won, but Gim certainly deserved it as five tries to two suggests. At one stage in the second half Bishops led 19-12 but then Gimmies' backs swung into action with quick tries.

Bishops came back from 31-19 down to move up to 34-25 and then in the dying seconds scored a try that made the score as close as it was.

Much of the Bishops scoring came from the boot of Tim Swiel at fullback, like his father before him a silky runner with the ball. The Gim star was left wing Conrad Loubser who scored a hat-trick of tries.

The scorers:

For Paarl Gim:
Tries: Conrad Laubscher 3, Chris Bosch, Christiaan Smit
Cons: Willie Viljoen, Lance Ruthford 2
Pen: Rutherford

For Bishops:
Tries: Dillyn Leyds, Phillip Jacobs
Cons: Tim Swiel 2
Pens: Swiel 6

The teams:

Paarl Gim: 15 Jacques Botha, 14 Erik van der Merwe, 13 Christopher Bosch, 12 Kobus van Wyk, 11 Conrad Loubser, 10 Lance Ruthford, 9 Willie Viljoen (captain), 8 Christiaan Smit, 7 Ruan Mouton, 6 Carlo Theron, 5 Niel Claassen, 4 Stefan Willemse, 3 Mynhardt Kitshoff, 2 Jandré Conradie, 1 Du Toit Genis.

Bishops: 15 Tim Swiel, 14 Liam Petersen, 13 Paul Kuiper, 12 Philip Jacobs, 11 Johny Kotze, 10 Dillyn Leyds, 9 Guy Whitfield, 8 James Crowson, 7 Tarquin Carlsson, 6 Evan Strauss, 5 Cameron Doyle, 4 Stephen Buerger, 3 Tshepo Motale, 2 Seb Matheson (captain), 1 Willem Gresse.

Referee: Jonathan Kaplan

So this is where Kaplan is hiding these days! He sure enjoys to ref the Paarl schoolboys these days.

Our (KleinGims) bare feet U13s also did pretty well.
3 Kids in the WP U13 Craven Week team. All of them also Boland U13 cricketers and 2 also made the Boland U13 hockey team. They will withdraw from the Boland hockey tournament due to the weeks ia at the same timeframe.

4 Kids made the WP XV team, 1 of them also made Boland hockey and also play for Boland cricket.

So 7 playing provincial rugby from a school of 600 with 250 boys.
