The game plan was not the problem it was the execution. Frans Steyn was awful again. He looks like he is inured. No surprise that Meyer is not going to play him. Barely looked like he was able to run.

Sharks all kicked like crap and their work at the breakdown lacked spark. Jakeball needs those areas to be spot on.

Oh an I can't remember who it was but some bright spark on here suggested that the Stormer's would lie down for the Sharks. Yeah right.
@Pfitzy - I'm sure it was him! :D

Sure makes the return bout at Newlands an intriguing match to come. Stormers win again, Jakeball could be in real trouble this year.

Yup.

Stormers on the up and up. That's for sure.

Great rugby from them with so many good players out.

Anyone at 13 but De Jongh will be a travesty but unfortunately Meyer is wants size at 13. He is so much better than JJ Englelbrecht.

JJ Englebrecht played the worst game of Super Rugby of all time earlier for the Bulls. Just comical. No hyperbole I swear.

Just watched the replay. Great win at the end for the Stormers. I'm sure Charl McLeod will want to forget that kick he did with half a minute to go. They were up on the score board, there was zero point to that kick.

That about sumps it up though. Ultimately poor kicking will cost you and there was plenty of that from the Sharks.

The Stormers must be kicking themselves they look bloody strong at the moment, their defence is back. Brick wall.

The Sharks/Stormers result wasn't that great a shock tbh. The Sharks haven't been playing for very long time now, but have been winning. The Stormers have actually been pretty good over the last month.

The real shock for me was the Bulls-Lions game. The Lions were plainly rubbish in Australasia, while the bulls have been ripping strips off opponents since getting back from their overseas tour. I expected the bulls to post a massive score on the Lions. Instead it was the Bulls who looked hopeless. JL Potgieter undid all his good work from earlier this season in one game and it is a sad indication of the coaches faith in Louis Fouche (who started the season as first choice) that Potgieter wasn't replaced.

Stormers scoring some great tries there.
If the score was not so close I think I would still be sleeping.

The Sharks are so overrated. Battleship sure did not look like a Bok captain and his fellow fatties as Bokke. Still cant believe the Stormers rookie scum gave them a workout.

I am just glad for Taute who have been struggling so long after his injury.

A couple of articles have talked about the drop goal snatching victory at the death.

They failed to mention that he only went for it under penalty advantage and if Taute missed, Catrakilis would have had a sub 30m penalty from directly in front to win the game.

It was a good drop goal but it really just sped up the result.

I think he has a point but sometimes I just wish he would shut it.

A good defense and better kicking game thwarted his game plan.

White's got the sour grapes mouthwash big time, now largely blaming the Boks recent camp for the Sharks loss v Stormers. He must be feeling the pressure now, or that of a somewhat over-inflated ego:

To be honest he risk a vital Springbok player like Steyn in this match. The Stormers cupboard of back ups is empty because of all the injuries and senior players like Duanne Vermeulen should get credit. Look like he can motivate these youngsters and bring out the best in them.

Stormers vs Bulls @ Newlands & Cheetahs vs Sharks @ Osfontein.

Hope they rest the Bok players.

DHL Stormers injury report – 30/06/14

June 30, 2014
DHL Stormers lock Eben Etzebeth will not feature in the 2014 Vodacom Super Rugby tournament, but five players will be back for the DHL Stormers this weekend.

The full DHL Stormers injury report (30/06/14):
- Forward Deon Fourie (concussion), hooker Tiaan Liebenberg (neck), scrumhalf Louis Schreuder (broken thumb), centre Juan de Jongh (pneumonia), wing Kobus van Wyk (wrist) and fullback Gio Aplon (elbow) are all back at full training and will be considered for selection against the Bulls.
- Lock Eben Etzebeth (broken toe) will not play in the 2014 Vodacom Super Rugby competition after suffering his new injury – a broken toe which will keep him out of action for another two/three weeks.
- Prop Brok Harris (AC Joint) has undergone surgery and will be out of action until late August.
- Hooker Scarra Ntubeni (broken foot) will be available for the first round of the 2014 Absa Currie Cup competition.
- Prop Oli Kebble (ankle – syndesmosis) is due back in late August/early September.
- Centres Damian de Allende and Jean de Villiers (both knee injuries) are still out for another four weeks.
- Prop Frans Malherbe (concussion) is making good progress after showing concussion symptoms for some time. He won’t feature in the 2014 Super Rugby competition again but should be good to go for the Absa Currie Cup competition.
- Prop Steven Kitshoff (knee and ankle injuries) will not play rugby again in 2014.
DHL STORMERS COACH ALLISTER COETZEE ON:
BEING BACK AT TRAINING AFTER THE JUNE BREAK:
“We had a complete break for two weeks so that the players should freshen up mentally and physically and I could see at training today that the intensity levels were high.”
EBEN ETZEBETH’S TOE INJURY:
“Eben is not ready to play and won’t be up for selection for either of our two remaining Super Rugby fixtures.
“He will probably be ready in time to play for the Springboks in the Rugby Championships, but he wasn’t ready in time for the projected return date of June 28 and will have to now sit out a few more weeks because of his toe injury.”
THE DHL STORMERS’ CENTRE OPTIONS:
“Juan started running last week and by the way he trained today he looks like he’s ready to play.
“The other centre options are Peter Grant, Kobus van Wyk and Sailosi Tagicakibau, who has played at centre for London Irish. I have been pleased with the way Sailosi has adapted to the midfield in training.”
THE DHL STORMERS’ LOOSE FORWARD OPTIONS:
“Schalk Burger may have played for 80 minutes in the last Test but he and Siya Kolisi trained with great intensity after their injury lay-offs. We are now looking for the squad to get back to the fitness levels they were before the break so that we can end the season on a high note.
“It is so important to finish the Super Rugby season well so that we can take the momentum into the Currie Cup season.”
