At best, it's remarkably poor technique that recklessly endangers the other jumper.. who will always flip forwards when the other player is running directly into his legs.

Where is the rule that states that to compete for a ball in the air, a player has to be in the air? Your image clearly shows Habana has eyes for the ball only and in fact has his arms raised in an attempt to catch it. To suggest that Habana is only pretending to look at the ball whilst he takes the player out is a bit of a stretch. There is absolutely no intent there, it is simply an unfortunate accident.

Not trying to apply intent, just that it's a reckless way to "compete" for the ball. There's nothing in the laws that I know of right now - but that's why the laws are amended fairly regularly.

Just think the adjudication surrounding these incidents has gotten a little too relaxed now.

OK so you have this need for a rule change. Best of luck.

Statement from World Rugby following allegations of biting made against Frans Malherbe by an British newspaper after last night's match against the USA:

Independent Citing Commissioner Peter Larter (England) is satisfied that no biting incident occurred during the Rugby World Cup 2015 Pool B match between South Africa and USA on 7 October. Larter’s determination follows a detailed review of all video footage, an absence of a team referral and proactive dismissal by the USA team of claims made via social media that a South Africa player bit a USA player during the match. This matter highlights the need to exercise caution in respect of claims based on two-dimensional images.

In other words, fuck off, Daily Mail, and specifically Kevin Quigley.

His defensiveness on his Twitter account after making an unfounded claim is hilarious.

While we are on Malherbe, thought he scrum well. Hope he dont get injured, we'll need him against the Wallabies/All Blacks.

USA player stamping Bryan Habana mid-air. Surprised the English media didn't pick this up.
