OK, finally watched the game in full last night

My thoughts?

Aus weren't mentally "on" in defence, they were passive, not aggressive for long periods and looked flat. We really lacked defensive sting and that made turnovers harder to come by, and that meant the Scots had more opportunities for field position and pressure. Fix the attitude to defense and we will be a much more formidable team in the match.

That may have been subconsciously from the ease their attack was carving up the Scots when they got into their 22. Our attacking structure worked well, pulling in defensive units and then we attacked the edge and leveraged the overlap. We did leave two clear bombed tries as well

The game looked like a few Tahs games in the last three years, where we looked like we were going to score 60, scored early and never mentally were prepared to do what was required to blot them out and go on with it.

The Scots kept pressuring and deserved to turn that pressure into points, their two opensides blotted out our attack, their scrum caused grief and they kept in the game.

I thought Foley must have had an absolute nightmare reading the posts, while not perfect (he missed some hard conversions and had a charge down) he did do pretty well at working with Gits to direct play

Slipper? In 100 other matches he would never have
thrown that pass, he will never do it again either

Aus were bound to have an off game somewhere. Rather in the quarters against Scotland than against the Argies in a semi.

The wake-up call alone may be responsible for getting into the final.

They looked and played like a team who did too much work on the training paddock last week.

Let's hope Chubby lets them ease off a bit and freshen up.

Jesus Christ, I thought the saltiness here wouldn't be as bad as it is.

So many of these decisions get confirmed to be right or wrong throughout the season, International or otherwise. It's hardly unreasonable to point it out. It's an objectively wrong decision, but from Jouberts perspective it was the right one.

And Nige is easy the best ref on the circuit. He's a clear communicator, is consistent with his decisions across matches, listens to his assistants and tries to keep a quick and open game going. What more can you ask for?

Yeah, after knocking off the Welsh and the Poms, it was always going to be hard mentally for this game - but I am sure Cheika was aware of the fact and was trying to see them revved.

And not just the tackling, but the getting of their arses and back into position quickly (if they want an example of "effort" show them the ABs in the France game)

Kane Douglas was down on effort.
Simmons as well.
Front Row didn't do nearly as much as previous games.
Did Suzy the waitress slip them some valium?

And when can we expect a frame by frame analysis of all the other decisions that were made?

If this is a common practice that doesn't make it sensible.

I think the maximum saltiness came from the Scottish captain, tbh.

Bloody poor form from WR (World Rugby), releasing a statement on one decision that favoured the scots. This simply reinforces the view of retards that decisions at the death are objectively worth more than those in the 10th or 65th minutes. Typical home Union bias shown by WR (World Rugby) in throwing a (southern hemisphere) ref under the bus to appease a home Union.

I'm glad the northern hemisphere sides are no longer participating. Fuck them.

As for Nigel Owens, you're on drugs if you think he is better than Joubert.

Bloody hell. I thought I was bad with conspiracies but this one takes the biscuit. Australia get through on a simple wrong decision and suddenly its all a NH vendetta.

So is the result of the body line series. Has it been forgotten in Australia?
Now I've heard it all.
You're mentioning a cricket series where one team hurled a ball at 140+ km /hr directly at the body of players in a deliberate attempt to injure them as they realised the batsmen were more skilled and they had no other way of them getting out.
And comparing it to a referee decision that was 50/50 and no worse than several others which went in the Scott's favour?
Really??
Now I think I've heard it all.
The sheer lunacy of that statement astounds me.

But he was right to be pissed off. You would be too.

There have been plenty of other frame by frame analyses of other incidents. The only thing that's changed now is that this game will go into Scottish legend as a game that was snatched away from them. Not the first or the last injustice. I've got a whole back catalogue! All Blacks 1978 still gets under my skin

At the same time, a few mistakes were made come scrum time which gifted the Scots points as well. But we only hear about the call that "cost" Scotland the game and not the incorrect penalties in the first half.

Hell, if the Scots didn't have an overthrow in the first place none of this would have happened. But rather than take some sort of accountability for that mistake, they look for a scapegoat to blame.

But hey, if Foley kicked a little better (both place and mid-air) and Slipper didn't have a brain fart, the Scots wouldn't have been in the game.

You know as well as I do that there are hundreds of incidents in every game that should be penalised. That's completely different from a decision made by the ref that 1) is wrong and 2) decided the result.

Slipper has major flaws in his scrummaging that have been papered over until this game. If he is starting next week we're in trouble.

World Rugby should have an exhibition game where we have 7 referees on the field like in the NFL.

Everyone could have yellow flags that they can drop when they've seen an incident. The main referee can have a whistle in order to stop play.

They can then review each and every incident and ensure that they've got everything 100% correct after looking at all available camera angles.

After the game takes four hours to play and has no flow we can assign the idea to the dustbin of history and go back to having a single referee in charge of the game who makes decisions in real time (with help from the TMO for foul play and tries) and acknowledge that occasional errors will be made.

Think he'll go ok. The argies only put the shove on Irish a couple of times and to be honest there werent enough scrums to make a difference. Preventing him from trying to sell dummies would be most important thing he can improve
