Personal grunts on the game :
Wallabies have not just improved "Running Rugby" as the magic bullet people for fucking years seemed to think the problem was. It's all these little things. Scrum, Kicking, Defence, Culture, Finishers, Shutting down teams in the last 20 mins, trusting the man beside you, covering him if he needs help. And not being a bunch of smartarse pricks at McDonald's at 3am.
I'm not just supporting these guys cause well fuck, they are wearing the gold so I have to. I am genuinely proud of what this team is doing for Rugby and the National team in the last few months. Playing like it's a golden opportunity , not a right.
The 13 man period was the best defensive effort I"ve seen by Australia, ever.
Wales have the ability to knock off both SA and NZ. Screw the percentages and likely hood, this is the World Cup.
I think we must have played something like 30 minutes without Hooper (suspended), McMahon (subbed) and Pocock (out there but on one stump). In some ways it was a worse case scenario yet without them we played our finest hour (or ten minutes) in defence. Without them out there and a dodgy Folau we produced "the 10 minutes of guts" then turned straight around and went down and put a crucial 3 points on them to help ice the game. My point ? We didnt crumble under adversity, we did what we could and what we could do was alot.
That first scrum by us was dumb. We just needed to get the ball out and get field position via a exit kick. We became England there and tried to get cute and a penalty. There's a time for that shit. That first scrum wasn't it.
Once again, late in the game you can't score against the Wallabies.
Great game. Proud of the boys..........on both sides.
