Holy crap yeah. Imagine the permutations of that. And what if NZ lost that first game vs SA? Would they now be relying on a win over Italy NOT to get dumped out in the pool stages? And then the match gets fucking cancelled?I'm very thankful that the AB v Bok game was not scheduled for this weekend.
Well, assuming all other matches had been played then only the NZ v SA game would remain. Leaving both equal on 17 points so tries scored etc would have counted and finally world ranking. NZ to finish first in pool I imagine in that scenario, but SA fans would probably not have been too happy about that.Holy crap yeah. Imagine the permutations of that. Cannot even imagine the NZ reaction but can safely say they would not go quietly into that good night
Yep if they wanted to play in the WC, that's when it is.
except that they could play the following day at the same stadium
WR (World Rugby)/the RWC is not the local court, they can change the rules on the fly if they see fit (or at least with member union approval)

Could they though? I would love if the games went ahead, but wonder if a Typhoon as bad as the one they say is coming hits, would they not have to then check for damage etc? I imagine it takes a lot of resources by police etc etc to stage these games, and I would imagine an awful lot of those are being used to make sure of safety during the Typhoon?
Really shows our mentality in here, people in the area must be a fearful of the chances of loss of life, injuries, damage to property, but oh no good old Green and Gold rugby's only concern seems to be that there is no cancellation of a couple of games of rugby!! Just struck me how shallow we are!
Weather forecast for Tokyo tomorrow:people in the area must be a fearful of the chances of loss of life
27 degrees
89% humidity
risk of thunderstorm
How is this better than a well-timed bedshit?Weather forecast for Tokyo tomorrow:
AKA, just another hot rainy day in the big city.
This now has the potential to be a monster premature bedshit from IRB
Whispers that the option to reschedule the game for Monday was shot down by NZ... claim denied by World Rugby.
This is an idiotic post. People being disappointed at games being cancelled does not equate to blithe disregard for human life and so on. Poor effort.
I for one care more about rugby than human life.
So Cyclo, show me the posts where it was more important that safety came before a game and I will know I wrong, I can only take what people write as what they mean!
One thing I do think, though once again it maybe for safety reasons I do think it would of been better to cancel games closer in case the Typhoon dies out.Show me the evidence that people not directly mentioning safety are happy to see people killed or injured? Talking about possible alternatives for cancelling games does not equate to that. Unless you think purely in black and white. Following one idiotic post with another. I'd give up if I were you.[/quote
Well take your point Cyclo, I just assumed that most would realise what it takes to move games, and that perhaps everyone in Japan would be more interested in making sure safety came first. I obviously overestimated them. Also the fact that all teams actually have to sign an agreement to participate in WC, and but of the agreement is that games CANNOT be postponed in pool stage, so their hands are tied. Noone really think that WCs etc are run without cler rules being set out before do they?
I think you've lost the forest amongst the trees Dan. World Rugby has forgotten how to put on a rugby game lost in its own self importance. To not have a contingency in place for a tournament running in the typhoon season is unforgivable. You could have both of those squads play out their match on a training field and it would be a better resolution than this. Chuck out a skeleton tv crew, skip the TMO and I think we've already got a more valuable product. This outcome completely undermines the legitimacy of a competitive tournament.
Not only that, this is how World Rugby sends off one its greats players, Sergio Parisse.
