Ireland's record of unremarkability is something to behold. However, this team is much better than probably all of the above put together if perhaps a year past its best.

Ireland could be a dark horse here, they are capable, just out of form. Hopefully they rise for the occasion, but still hard to bet against the Darkness.

As much as I enjoy a New Zealand pantsing of the home nations, and I really, really enjoy it. I desperately want Ireland to win this so Aus will (potentially) have the easier semi final.

If Australia lose to England, then all good, I'll be on the Darkness bandwagon on some sick, stockholm syndrome mood, "we have to play these pricks three times a year, see how you muppets like getting spanked by them too".

It's a tricky one. In my "hierarchy of hate", England is undoubtedly at the top and I will cheer any and every team that plays them. The Kiwis are a close second, but I have a strong anti northern hemisphere bias which is now making me question my preferences.

Do I seek southern supremacy and another Irish failure on the biggest stage? Yet another reminded that while power may swagger down the corridors of WR (World Rugby) headquarters in Dublin, it doesn't mean shit out on the field.

Or do I get behind the underdog and drown myself in schadenfreude at the spectacle of NZ exiting in the earliest of stages?

I understand the neutrals getting behind the underdog team but Ireland have to be the most boring team in World Rugby by some distance. An awful brand of rugby to watch. If they do knock out the ABs i'll be cheering against them the rest of the way.

Personally I do respect and even admire Ireland/Schmidt for their well-organised, methodical approach and rare, but well-constructed, strike moves.

Yep, I'm not caring about who we'll play in the semis yet so also hoping England, Wales and Ireland all on planes back home come Monday due to my totally subjective and probably illogical support of South v North rugby.... yeah I count the French as an exception to that rule. And think Japan's glorious run will end as SA will be too strong. Geez I'm looking forward to this weekend.

From what I've seen, we'd just need to swap out Berry for Gauzere to have the best officiating crew of the RWC for this match (less so a slight on Gauzere, and more that Berry has just been very good from what I've see this year).

England/Australia, on the other hand, is being officiated by the Unholy Trio.
