Ok sorry Ped, we obviously talking about different incidents, the one I talking about Louw is not trapped in a ruck, but just starting to get up from the back of one as McCaw runs past, I will see if I can find the one where he is trapped in a ruck.
No worries. Keep an eye out for the number eight holding Louw from the ground in the lead up. That's the one I'm talking about.

I reckon McCaw does it on purpose. But he is such a sneaky bastard it looks like an accident.

A guy of McCaw's coordination doesn't 'accidentally' elbow another bloke that is essentially still in the head. If he wanted to he would have missed him.

Won't get suspended of course though.

Can someone explain what the ruling was when Franks (I think it was) entered the rolling maul on the SA side to win the turnover? I was thinking to myself 'wtf are you doing!' then we get a penalty out of it.

Great game overall, I haven't been that nervous/relieved since the 2011 final.

the ABs hadn't contested the line out t so Franks was able to effect a tackle

I really think that was a poor effort by the AB's, very encouraging if we make it past the Pumas. They have really suffered for having no real competition through the pools and finals.
Given the huge amount of possession the AB's had, the woeful general kicking from SA and the fact that SA never looked like scoring a try, the fact that the AB's could only create 2 tries in 80 minutes shows the damage done by their soft run.
Sure, the Bok's defence was pretty good, but it was flattered by an unimaginative AB's attack and odd decision making at times.
It was a stranglely passive game, I expected they might bash each other to a standstill, or the AB's run the Boks ragged and while the drizzle played a part it was an odd feeling game to watch.
It will be interesting to see if Hanson can get them to lift next weekend.

Another interesting call was the JP Pietersen intercept that was called back for a penalty to NZ but then the TMO immediately reversed the penalty for a neck roll. Even though it was the right decision in real time, I wonder what would have come of the situation had Pietersen scored? Would the try have stood given the original penalty had been reversed?

No, because the AB's were playing under advantage so the play that led to the intercept was played whilst they still believed they would get a penalty if it went wrong. It would always have been called back once the foul play was identified and the penalty reversed.

Yeah? Looks bad? Geez Ped you must of wanted Pocock banned for a long time if you think this is bad. Ok I a kiwi, but I don't even know if his elbow has hit him in head as he ran past, he certainly has been knocked with McCaws hip on the shoulder as he tried to stand, but as I said when there was a suggestion Pocock maybe cited a few weeks ago, I thought that was ludicrous suggestion, and think this is too, even if Green and Gold seem to be trying to highlight it on main game review!! ;) I wonder why that is;)

Same reason we had people speculating on potential Wallaby citings as well.

It's been published already in the London Telegraph, so it's already in the public eye. Nothing discussed on these forums will have any effect now.

I don't think McCaw should or will get suspended but he certainly makes contact.

Louw went off straight after that to get his forehead stitched up. He definitely gets opened up by the contact from McCaw's elbow.

No he didn't. He got up and contested the next breakdown and got a big close up at the next break in play with no blood or visible wound. The cut happened later.

Scrum.com has Louw being subbed off at the 28 minute mark (back on at 34), about 6 minutes after the McCaw incident.

Very costly error giving Carter a re-kick after the first try because of an early attempt at chargedown. He was never going to miss the second kick.

Fairly important in a close semi-final.

Yep, I'm watching the replay, and there was no blood after that incident. It's a nothing incident.

People criticising the way the game was played seem to have expectations which don't match the reality of a World Cup semi final played in the rain.

South Africa were never going to do much different. They played the style they were expected to and almost won.

The All Blacks made some uncharacteristic mistakes and kicked the ball away too much on attack. They would have probably been a bit more successful if they'd kept the ball in hand more in attack but it wasn't a surprising tactic given the match and conditions.

I think the Wallabies v Argentina game will be a bit more open tonight if the conditions are good but certainly not to the extent of Argentina's quarter final against Ireland.

McCaw is a very clean player. (especially considering the punishment dealt to him and how long he has been playing)

Pushes the laws to the limit of what he can get away with ('cheats') but he isn't dirty in terms of trying to injure or hurt others.

I reckon it'll be no less open. It may even be more because we'll play with more adventure than Ireland did. That doesn't mean as many tries will be scored but I can't see either team turning into England like South Africa and New Zealand did.
