It's not negative thinking to acknowledge how good the New Zealanders are. In fact you'd be crazy not to. Of course I hope we win and I will be screaming as much as any of you. But they beat us more often than we beat them. That's a fact not negative thinking.
Start living in the real world. Acknowledge the mountain we have to climb, acknowledge how good the Kiwis are and if we manage to win it will feel even sweeter.

To be honest, Bullrush, you're cherry-picking. It's commonplace to find sledging of Australian rugby in the New Zealand press. Look at the treatment of Quade Cooper. Both sides are equally bad.

I may of not read too much press at the time, but I recall the odd article about Cooper, but wasn't that stuff more "fan" (and I use that word in the faintest sense) driven? All the stupid booing etc.
Some of the OZ media/commentariat turned on him as well after the toxic comments and "facilities to facilitate" episode.
Anyway that's by the by. I wouldn't be reading too much into what most pundits are saying this week, it's the silly season turned up to maximum volume.

One area where the Wallabies will need to be accurate is the restarts. Probably the ABs greater comparative advantage. If the boys manage to catch it they'll need to be very careful with their pattern of taking it wide before Giteau or AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) kicks it, surely Hansen will have noticed this exit strategy.

The All Blacks played 3 tier 1 nations en-route to the final. The average tier 1 ranking was 6. (3,7,8) The total average world ranking of all opponents was 10.8 (3,7,8,11,16,20)
Australia played 4 tier 1 nations with an average ranking of 6.75. (4,5,8,9) The total average world ranking of all opponents was 9.2. (4,5,8,9,10,19)
The above is based on ranking at the commencement of the RWC.
Pretty bloody similar if you ask me.
Both teams had their share of easy and tough games, admittedly at different stages of the tournament.
Both teams have played some fantastic rugby and the two best teams have made the final.
So FFS time to cut the pissing contest and talk rugby.

Interesting numbers. 10.8 vs. 9.2 is quite a gap, actually. An average of 1.6 places higher per opponent, if I understand correctly.

Lies,damn lies, and statistics.
But their average tier 1 opposition was in the other direction by 0.75.
Their overall average was a lower ranking due to playing 16 and 20 whereas we played 10 and 19.
Their higher ranked opponents averaged more than ours and their lower ranked opponents lower.
Pretty even I'd say.
