Hahaha I like it.

I dunno. While I admire RF's passion, and imagine that my position may be different if I came from a state where NRL rather than AFL was king, I don't think much is gained through disdain for Rugby League and/or its supporters.

If you dismiss them, you give them reasons to dislike you and your game. If you try rationalising with them, worst you'll get is them ignoring you. While some of them may not be willing to admit it to you they may consider looking at union again, if they don't feel like its an us vs them situation.

JB, i do think it is a reflection of not coming from aplace where mungos are king. My opinion, you have to have such a passion to battle a sport so close and so offensive to yours in its home market. If i didnt have that passion, then i would have to put up with them equally doing the same thing. make no mistake that they would act any differently. In fact you'll find there are many more leagueys who are aggressive towards rugby than ruggers to league. little have contact with rugby or have ever had contact with rugby either and will not rationalise to support it. Hence in my lack of support and intense hatred of league i am doing a double service to rugby by adding to the supporters of rugby and detracting from those that support league. hopefully league will die or reintegrate some day and power up australian rugby, but until that day i will passionately show my hatred.

Seven's coverage has been awful over the last few years.
I like that rugby and league will be going head to head. this is a win for rugby

I get your argument, but the way I see it is there is a large portion of League supporters that will remain ignorant when it comes to actually learning about or watching rugby, just like there is an percent of rugby fans who dont want to know about League. Its these league fans who attack rugby and get neutrals and non-ignorant league fans into the anti-rugby group.

Ive always thought there should be a half hour show dedicated to teaching the basics of Rugby Union. Established players/fans might cringe, but the amount of people who think a ruck is elite level stacks-on....

There will always be large numbers that will remain ignorant because they want to. You can't change that. But the thing is, if you get into slinging matches with league supporters about which is the better code, you let them win because it creates a black and white situation, which League will win from every time. Further, you often feed into that mindset that 'Rugby is only for the elite, League is the working man's game', which is absolute dross but every time you look down on a leaguie, he thinks that.

As the minority sport in regards to participation, we need to take a different route. League can afford to put the Rugby followers off side, because it reinforces their base, which is larger. Rugby needs to be able to retain ties both with their base and attempt to grow the sport into league, which can only be done by embracing the supporters of league whilst not diluting the product that we have. So, we need to make the game seem more appealing; as supporters what we can do is make it more accepting - talk up the qualities of our game and how much a league supporter might enjoy this element or that, which creates an implied acceptance - rather than trying to disparage their game, which will only put them off side.
