The Crawford report was a shemozzle from the start, and has been widely ignored. The bloke had extensive ties to the AFL, and unsurprisingly his findings were to give more money to... the AFL!!

Cue screaming from the AOC and other codes, and then Kate Ellis was quietly reassigned after the election, and Mark Arbib takes over as Minister for Sport and tells said screamers that everything will be OK. Gives massive amounts to Olympic Sports and order is restored.

That's one of the dumbest things I've ever heard, if that's the recommendation from the report. The football codes, netball, cricket et al have plenty of money and players already. And I don't like this social engineering business with government money going towards getting more kids involved in physical activity. Fortunately, my two do it because they actually like it, rather than someone from the government or their school "encouraging" it.

No offense, BH, but I don't think you have thought that post through very well. Do you honestly think that the government should be propping up elite sports, that have very high barriers to entry rather than providing funding to sports that almost every child can play and ensure we are overall fitter as a nation?

Instead of spending money on advertisements, they should be spending money on equipment and facilities. This is just my opinion, it's not really in reference to anything in this thread.
