does anybody know if a rugby console game is going to come out anytime soon? i've noticed EA seem to have stopped producing the rugby series, surely if league can have one rugby can.

so not until 2011 or after in 2012?

You would think once the qualifications are sorted out then they will release. It could be released as early as late this year.

The game is being made by HB studios and The Rugby Forum. It will likely be out for september 2011 coming on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

It will probably not come out on Pc due to piracy issues.

Ea Sports are no longer producing it so the budget is less but the response from fans on The Rugby Forum will be pretty big.

If anyone wants to see the updates join TheRugbyForum and check the gaming forums

The only problem I see with a Union game is how they make ruck and mauls play and how interactive they will be. Is it just going to be button mashing or can they do something different.

Just one button, you can only commit players to the ruck. Oh you can steal the ball but.

It's about time a new one came out. I've still got Rugby 06 cranking on the 360, but I haven't touched it in ages as no one can compete with my "mad skills".

There was a hands in the ruck button and a head high tackle you could dish out too.

Rugby 08 wasnt much better than 06. Sure the teams were updated, but while you gained the WC you lost the Lions series.

Do you think AB fans buy these games so they can see their team win a world cup?
Or would there be a sub routine that makes them continually fail.

I wish they would add some better team building stuff. In NFL and Soccer games I played half the fun was building a team over a bunch of seasons. Last rugby game (06 was the last I played so it could have changed) you just earned money and bought an all-star team eventually. I want to be able to sign rookies, or cut them.

Try to keep all the Aussie players from going to Japan would be a challenge as well.

I like 'Football Manager' for that very reason, i dont like actually playing the game but i do like the 'managment/coaching' side of the house.. Would be awsome if they came out with a 'Rugby Manager', i think there have been some cheap mock-ups, but nothing decent yet.

Depends who is programming the game and what nationality he is

There was a rugby manager game, I found it online for $5 and had to buy it. It was terrible. Just terrible. The same company also apparently made a Bike Manager (like tour de france). EA can do better.
