Mrs Doug returned from her hairdresser today, with the news that a staff member had a sister in the Australian Women's Youth Rugby Sevens squad that left for Nanjing, China today to compete in the Youth Olympics! I didn't even know this event was about to happen.
Today, Chef de Mission, Olympian Susie O'Neill, announced that the flag-bearer at the opening ceremony would be Women's Rugby Sevens co-captain, Tiana Penitani, an 18 year old from Matraville, (a member of Maroubra women's sevens rugby club). Tiana will lead the 89-strong team into the stadium on Saturday.
There may be a thread already established for the Women's Youth Olympic Rugby Sevens competition, so apologies if this is "old news"!
Channel 7 will broadcast highlights of the games on 7-mate (chn. 73), from August 17.
Good luck girls!!!
