The League tackling technique is completely different to Union. League players are encouraged to go high, wrap up the ball and wait for a few more players to complete the tackle, as going low is seemed an unnecessary risk for a head injury. The contact is shoulder on chest, whereas in Union its more focused on shoulder on hips and legs.
He could be convinced to sign a 12month contract, have a crack at the RWC, prove his worth and receive a bigger contract the following year.
Not a completely unreasonable proposition especially in a RWC year, but he would still need a reasonable offer from the ARU..
I'm completely against Fifita receiving any ARU money. If the tahs want him, they should pay for his services within their salary cap. The salary cap which they are already advantaged by due to the sheer amount of players receiving ARU top ups in their squad.
Surely the money would be better spent elsewhere, perhaps offering players like Kimlin, Pyle some extra funds to stay in Australia?
Just see on Foxsports news that South Sydney have said they have "Moved on" from Fifita and wont be looking to sign him.
Options running out fast for the big fella.
He is a funny player, can look deadly at times, and can look completely disinterested at others. He would want to be a cheap buy.
