Rugby Championship in an Aussie bubble?

Well the thing being said by the people was that NZ propose to have all of the Bleds in NZ, while others are suggesting the RC will be held entirely in Aus.

And, yeah, the mature thing to do is wait until a formal announcement. But that would also make these boards entirely redundant as they are for speculation and discussion.

;) So true mate so true:D

Isn't is a $$$ game for everyone?

Is any union in a position to decline playing high value tests because their preparation wouldn't be good enough?

No. It will go ahead. All about money and nothing else.

Logic has long since left the building.

it does, and if it talks loud enough I will be happy wherever it is, though if they decided to play a Bled cup or 2 in NZ or OZ and then play the RC in Aus but just between Wallabies/Boks/Pumas, seems there has been some Covid in Puma's camp and I don't want ABs to take it back to NZ;)

Yep reports NSW will host the tournament in November.

Not sure if any positive cases now will overly impact a tournament 2 months away. If we are still getting confirmed cases from within squads in a month that might be another problem but ones now I don’t think will have any impact at all

With Australia securing the rights to host the Rugby Championship, the Herald understands first two Bledisloe Cup matches will now be pushed back one week and staged on October 17 and 24, likely to be in Auckland and Wellington.

Why would you host a tournament in Australia, sit through quarantine to play the first two matches in NZ, then sit through another dose of quarantine to play the second two in Australia? Shirley you just play the first two in Australia, and second two in NZ, so there's only half the quarantine required?

EDIT: Nvm. I'm stoopid.

"The All Blacks would then venture to Australia for the Rugby Championship."

Could've put that f*ckin line in with the rest of that paragraph, instead of randomly putting it on its own at the end of the piece like a footnote, you incompetent Hurld dipstick.

I'd be very very surprised if Suncorp Stadium doesn't host a few of the matches as well (seeing that there is a contract in place for one of the Bledisloe Cup games to be played at Suncorp worth decent $ to RA). Also with crowds of up to 25,000 allowed at Suncorp the extra $ from ticket sales would be a juicy incentive. The AFL GF is set to be allowed 30,000 (out of a capacity of 42,000) by October so a similar % would put the Suncorp crowd cap at about 37,000. Compared to NSW's current limit of 10,000.

The QLD premier seems to like giving sporting teams exemptions so I wouldn't imagine them gaining one to fly up and play in Brisbane would be too hard.

Surely the Argentinians not being able to play or trail will take them out.

You just isolate the ones that have it. Positive ones will be back in training camp after a couple of weeks. Lots of sports have shown how to prepare around this including rugby in the UK and France. They will be doing heavy testing now so they can play their warm up games against Uruguay etc. in a month

I'm starting to think the Unions see this as 'must play' from a financial perspective. I'm pretty surprised they are pressing ahead.

I suppose they are all desperate.

If it is in NSW i'm gunna be watching so much test footy live.

Wouldn't be too surprised if they decided to bring a squad of non euro players out early and tried to line up some warm up games here. Much less chance of catching it in Australia for the rest of the squad.

Ok I understand how we think it will work, but buggered if I can see how Argos can have any chance of putting on a competitive team, no rugby etc, must be at least a month away form having their coach back, and we were saying how tough it would of been for Wallabies to have a tough isolation period in NZ. I still think if anything goes ahead will be Aus/NZ/SA. And if we get another outbreak here, that gone too I reckon. Fingers crossed anyway!

I don't think being competitive is the primary objective, it's satisfying the criteria of the broadcasting agreement so that they get paid. I'm sure if Argentina send a second string squad out, and the Saffers for that matter, there will be a gentlemen's agreement from the other countries to give their second string players a hit out when they play them.

Yep I agree KOB ,but I thought you of all people would be against it after your little rant about how it not fair on Wallabies to have to play in NZ:p;)
