Rugby Championship 2025 (non-Aus matches)

I hadn't considered that, Dan. So possibly two of Fakatava, Roe & Nock?

Another decent turnout for arvo footy even if the result was a little hard to take....

There was a telling stat put up at 10-0: BoP two visits to opposition 22, Mako five. Gotta turn those visits into points.
Yep WOB, but just realized something, Christie didn't play for the Mako today after being named, so bet he is in.

Not really that hard to tip, the buggers will take some beating. I think Wallabies have a chance in first test though, coming off Lions series etc.

Probably means 8. ASav 7. Kirifi 6 & 20 Vaa'i & Finau? Not too many other options unless they're gonna throw Parker straight in.
Personally would be more than happy with that set of loosies WOB. I think Ardie at 7 or 8 is no big difference, it only at scrums it really comes into play anyway.

All Blacks team to play Argentina: Will Jordan, Sevu Reece, Billy Proctor, Jordie Barrett, Rieko Ioane, Beauden Barrett, Cortez Ratima, Ardie Savea, Du'Plessis Kirifi, Tupou Vaa'i, Fabian Holland, Scott Barrett (captain), Fletcher Newell, Codie Taylor, Ethan de Groot. Reserves: Samisoni Taukei'aho, Ollie Norris, Pasilio Tosi, Patrick Tuipulotu, Samipeni Finau, Finlay Christie, Anton Lienert-Brown, Damian McKenzie.
Huge test for Vaai. He's the only one cleaning rucks out of those 3.

5"11 Kirifi makes no impact there and Ardie's standing off waiting for his glory boy swoop.

Argies will be salivating

Fabian Holland, Scott Barrett

That lock pairing is a little green for mine, but at least they're healthy.

It's incredible how much rope senior ABs get these days.

ALB was a failed bench player last year on multiple occasions and they stick him on the bench again.

You get the sense a number of these senior ABs just get glossed over with selection - ALB can cover multiple positions and is experienced so he makes the cut - never mind the only decent test I can recall him playing in the last couple of years was vs Fiji in San Diego at 12.

I not sure why you think that DP. He had mindblowing stats in last French test. Kirifi isn't a stand off and swoop type loosie, he either in first 2 there or generally will set up in either attack/defense line. Against French in 3rd teat, he was in first 2 in ruck 40 odd times. Quite different how him and Ardie operate. In saying that, I still think Lakai can get to close to same figures, even if he more an Ardie type loosie now.

Potent. They will knock a few over this Championship.

There's a difference between involvement and effectiveness. Ethan Blackadder being a prime example.
The difference was Blackadder made plenty of rucks reasonably late wasn't in first couple often, think you will find it's also Papali'i s weakness something he learnt from Akira Ioane, looks good if you get there at end of ruck?. If you not in first 2-3 you often better to set in defence or attack line. Watch Ardie etc, and genuinely think why Dalton is struggling to make team. Getting there in first 2/3 is where big points are as that's how you retain or slow down opposition ball. He never gets knocked off ball as a rule as he has such good body position. In that 3rd test both him and Holland had figures of hitting 52 rucks and were in first 2 44-5 times. That is phenomenal by them both.

If we had a pack full of Ardies we would be absolutely fucked at ruck time. Magnificent at certain aspects of play but you need a balance.

Will keep a close on Kirifi tomorrow.

Ardie really picks his time doesn't he Kiwi, he makes some good turnovers, but certainly picks his times to hit them. Nothing worng with it, just how he plays to strengths etc. Really in the game your ruck meausrement really is what they call lightning ball, number of 1-2 second ones you win in attack, and so some players just set in backline. Especially at test level.
Team I used to help coach, obviously a lot lwer level etc, we used to practice setting rucks (going to ground) and clearing ball with a time limit of 4-5 seconds and that was a struggle.
