I don't think old Darth would have the legs to play in the backline. That being said his great knowledge of the force and his defensive execution skills (ie:killing fuckers) would be valuable in the outside channels.
I'd play Anakin over Darth. Vader is almost as much a crock as Horne when it comes to injuries.

What I don't understand is why Jar Jar Binks is coaching.

Since he lost his hand his left to right passing has been crap.

I'd see Anakin Skywalker as somewhat of a James O'Connor or Quade Cooper, you know you're meant to like him but you just can't!
I feel a Star Wars XV thread coming...... :p

I see JOC (James O'Connor) comparison...

Something about the immature, self sense of entitlement.......

I have noticed Cooper seems a bit bigger and more physical since he's come back.

Am I the only one that thinks Cooper defends at fullback because he gets more opportunity to counter-attack from there?

Nope - see my post yesterday in the Cooper v Barnes thread.

Surely, Darth would be an openside in the mould of McCaw?

I'd imagine that the full power of the dark side of the force would be utilised to persuade the ref that there were no hands in the ruck, and that he wasn't lying all over the ball...

"These aren't the backrowers you're looking for..."

Surely Yoda would have to be the scrumhalf.

Maybe you could get Yoda and ur other star wars friends to teach Cooper how to tackle. He will forever try to hit high and rip the ball out (I saw him do this many times just before the june tests). Why on earth link or dingo hasn't taught him how to tackle front on yet is getting ridiculous.

Can you guys try and regain some focus? Sheesh.

It wouldn't be a bad idea to have Cooper come off the bench (when required for the RC games). Start with the solid defensive lineup, and bring Cooper on when it gets a little looser, and if we need points - pushing Barnes out to centre.

I think we've exhausted all the possibilities and permutations now Scotty and are left to ponder scenarios only slightly more fanciful than that which Deans will come up with

Barring injury, I will be surprised if the starting backline changes for the first TRC match.

I think JOC (James O'Connor) will come onto the bench for Fainga'a and if we play a 4:3 split, Cooper will also be on the bench.

Pat McCabe will improve his public profile by appearing in the next Carefree Tampons commercial.

Not sure the last time Genia was injured in a game, but the first time we don't have a half on the bench is the time it will happen.

I expect to see this following backline for the first RC game:

9 Genia
10 Barnes
11 Ioane
12 McCabe
13 Horne
14 O'Connor
15 Beale

White, Cooper, Ashley-Cooper

Seven pages on backs and one on forwards. Is the pack so easy to choose or is this indicative of the Australian obsession with backline play at the expense of hard yards?

I'm still not sold on Horne. As some have elluded to, he will struggle having SBW, de Villiers, Steyn and Smith running in his channels at the Four Nations. Fainga'a or Ashley-Cooper will be better suited there.

Apart from that I think Scotty is on the money, obviously I'd prefer Quade to be starting, but that's my fanboy and QLD bias coming through.

Seems likely Deans will play 5-2 given our forwards issues. Maybe we could make Cooper stand in at 9 if Genia had to come off. At least we know he has a long pass.

Also concerned about Horne. I spoke up for him after his first ball ho incident, but the air turned a bit red in our house after the last one. He continues to put himself in the right spots though, that's good.

I think Horne has been playing well. I agree he blew a try in the first test and should have passed, but I think he was entirely right to hang onto the ball on Saturday.

He had a clear run to the corner and the player outside him wasn't in any better position to score. He did almost drop the ball, but almost doesn't count. He scored the try.

His defence has been great. Rugbystats.com.au has him down as not missing a tackle during the series.
