Looking forward to this coming World Series. Few coaching and playing changes about, more Womens tourneys.

Plus Argentina, Canada, Japan, Russia, Samoa and Scotland all competing for 4 Automatic spots in the Sevens World Cup.

Out for the year! We are in desperate need of a playmaker now.

Does anyone know if Stannard is going around again?

there's some good speed in that 2nd Aussie men's team. Very raw obviously but Felsman, Woolf and McNamara are faaaast

It's good to see new young faces but more importantly speed, you can't coach speed, you either have it or not. Charlie Taylor is another one to watch explosive speed from standing start to finish. I hope both teams do well, will be a nice cool weekend for it

He had some "interesting" supporters championing his case on G&GR back in his schoolboy days.

Wonder if they will return now he is back from the Dark Side?

Fred Dorrough is going to be busy in the Men's Gold 2 team playing in two positions. :)

Gold 1's just had their pants pulled down by a thrown together team from Fiji.

Andy Friend couldnt train a pig to be dirty, how his contract was extended before he failed in Rio is poor management from ARU.

What's his story? He showed a bit in that fairly average performance by our Aussie team.
Think his Parents are Queenslanders, but he played Vic Schoolboys as a Scrum Half, Wing and Full back then was selected for the Commonwealth Youth Sevens in 2015.

Then was the U20s Fullback ahead of Billy Gray, who played ended up playing the two games against Baby Blacks for the Joeys.

Spent the rest of the year with Sunnybank Colts?

Very Chelsin Kolbe IMO. Short, light, good pass without being International Scrum Half level. Quick. Good lines. Good high ball and tackling for his size. Loves space.

Ideal Sevens playmaker IMO. Didn't think his opportunity would cone this fast, but between Fa'ala'avau taking a year off and lots of them playing XVs, well, he deserves it.

The linked article demonstrates all that is wrong with ARU.
The men's 7's are better resourced than ever, and next years target is a top 8 finish.
What's the 2018 target going to be? Regain our spot on the 7's circuit?
Why are we the only nation that has turned over a few players the year after the Olympics? Or are the targets set ridiculously low?

That seems fairly low ambition wise.

Top 8 finish, building to the Comm Games and World Cup Sevens.

Sounds like Samoa or Scotland, or a keeping expectations steady Kenya to me. Not Australia.
