Horan loving Cape Town
Rugby great Tim Horan - who played for the International Legends at the Castle Cape Town Tens at the weekend - believes this tournament has the potential to become the premier Tens event in the world.
Speaking to capetowntens.com from his home in Brisbane, after a fantastic weekend in Cape Town at the Tens, Horan gushed: "I have no doubt in my mind that the Cape Town Tens has the potential to become the best Tens tournament in the world.
"For one, it will grow bigger, literally, as more fields become available after the World Cup - but also because it is a truly fantastic tournament, an event I was very proud to be a part of!
"The great part of the weekend was playing with guys I had played against so often in the past," he added, "but it was also brilliant to be a part of such a relaxed rugby environment in a beautiful city like Cape Town."
Horan, 39, and his fellow International Legends were a huge hit at the Castle Cape Town Tens throughout the weekend and he added: "The people were just incredible - you Capetonians know your rugby and everyone appreciated us being there - it was a humbling experience for all of us.
"It was also a huge honour to play that first game of rugby at the wonderful Cape Town Stadium. Sitting in the (dressing) shed beforehand brought back memories of old, but it was nice, for once, to be on the same side as people like Tana, Fleckie and Leon."
Whilst quick to add that those memories of old quickly disappeared, the more his lungs began to burn whilst out on the lush Cape Town Stadium turf, Horan admitted that he would love to be a part of the 2011 Cape Town Tens.
"If Bob and Rob will have me back, I'll be there," concluded the modest 80-Test Wallabies veteran and double World Cup winner.
