Round 3: Moana Pasifika v Rebels - Friday 8 March 2024

Highlander35

Steve Williams (59)
Gibson has been very good for a few years but I think he’s stepped up this year so far. scrummaging is underrated and his run strongly too.
He seems, in a perverse way, to have benefitted from being thrown away after the Loftus disaster.

With Robertson taking the year off, blokes like Lambert and Hoopert injured, and the absurd number of foreign props in and around the squads, he's got a really good opportunity to build and get a lot of test caps this year, particularly if the hope is to manage Slipper through to the BILs tour after a few seasons of being relied upon almost too much.

Yeah, it's looking a bit like a straight fight between him and Hodgman for the 3rd string at the moment and that's assuming Hodgman makes it back on the park. That might be a bit harsh on Schoupp, but he's only getting short stints off the bench at the moment and the Brumbies scrum is struggling so he's got a bit to do before he can really push for a spot. All that leaves Gibbon very much in the box seat.
