By my reckoning, the only Super Rugby capped players not selected for this game are Volavola, Siliva & Snowden. Hardly earth-shattering depth.

The rest are injured.

Heart says Rebels, head says Blues and by plenty.

McMahon is a huge loss, not only for his personal contributions but he is one of the few players in this country that has the ability to lift other players performances to a higher level.

I think the Rebels will struggle until McMahon returns

Well here it , morning of opening game in Super rugby 17, and I am ready. Really looking for ward as I usually do to these early games to see how teams and players actually shape up. Tonight I think I will be keeping a bit of an eye on Blake Gibson for the Blues to see if he keeps on with the promise of last year or 2.

If you listen closely to the 'Saders v Rebels match, you can hear two distinct noises; 1) the sound of Justin Marshall's heart breaking when little red scored the match-sealing try, 2) the sound of me cheering, thousands of KMs away in Melbourne, when full-time blew.

Other than that, my memory is a little fuzzy from that night.
