Elsom isn't I guess what you would call a classic 6, but I think you are under estimating his talent and contribution.

why don't the Tahs miss him

We do but Link also set up some good depth in acquiring Mowen.

But the Tahs would be a better pack without that big slug Thomson sitting in the stands and Mowen being rotated from the bench.
