Rob Horne is a fad. It's cool to be a fan of his but what has he done?

Outplayed every centre he has played against in Super Rugby including the leaguies you nominate but also Nonu and Smith last year. He also looked the good in Wallaby colours before being injured. Certainly enough so that he was rightly ranked the best 13 in the country, a title I feel he has shown he deserves again.

Perhaps a better and longer lived Fad than the Reds of 2010.

Are you drunk Reddy? On a school night?

Don't be so quick to dismiss him; there's a few diamonds in the rough of his comments.

We are getting a bit overexcited about a player with a history of fragility.

We shouldn't pidgeon hole players in the mould of their successful predecessors, rather we should view each player objectively in their own right.

Oh sorry, I was rewatching Reds games from 2010 after Gnostic reminded me of how awesome that year was.

But seriously, you all know I like Rob Horne he could be a great player for the Waratahs and even Australia but come on, Week 3 is yet to start. Let's see how Horne goes next week against the most physically impressive player in the competition - and I hope you all know who I'm talking about.

I want to see him head to head with AAC (Adam Ashley-Cooper) before I would call that one. At the moment Adam is the best (IMHO) we have in that position and proven at test level. That's what young Rob has to shoot for. I will also add that while he was solid at test level last year, he wasn't spectacular. He's off to a great start this year though.

And anyway, why do we need a "next Horan" or "next Little" - why can't Horne just be the next Horne, and be the best Horne he can be.

We don't, I agree.
I only suggested he was as good a prospect as Herbert and Mortlock at similar stages, and was less like their style, and a bit more like Little.
Strange how that becomes "the next Little".
Anyway, as I noted earlier, he has fragility on his side, so that is the greatest hurdle to overcome.

So you rate him in the mortlock and Herbert league? Isn't that getting a little ahead of ourselves?

Im not sure if your being serious or just a pest? But I was referring to his attacking ability that you questioned. At no stage did I enter the ridiculous topic of comparing current players to former players.

Horne is certainly one of the best defenders we have produced for a while, however I am yet to see enough from him to class him as one of the best attackers. I haven't yet put him with Little, Herbert and Mortlock.

Yeah that is me I just turn up here to be a pest.

My point was that a lot here are talking about him in terms of next great and of course the next great is always compared to previous greats. At the moment I can see him fulfilling the attacking ability of those players so are not willing to talk about him in those terms. We are just getting ahead of ourselves.

is good now and IMO will be great long term - as long as injury free
