I watched Aotearoa rugby pod last night, and Ben O'Keefe was a guest on it found it incredibly interesting. One or two things talked about, he would love for refs to be able to come on tv and explain why decisions were made etc, he reckons if you could do it on say a Wednesday aftr a game would be good after refs have done own review etc, and seen a replay etc. Also talked how most refs have their own blueprint of how they ref, what they looking for etc and says you need it for when pressure goes on in tight games etc. Also when asked if he studies teams he has coming up so he has idea of where they tend to infirnge, he says you have to know how each team plays, but never to see how they infringe etc, as your mind would be too cluttered, more he watches how teams play and gave example , the Highlanders when they play have an awful lot of moves off back of lineout, so you need to be aware and try to stand deeper or in a different spot to keep out of way.
Also was saying he doesn't mind idea of clocks etc for kicks at goals, but noted in URC (I think) where they use it, goalkickers are actually making sure they use all the time ie waiting until clock ticks over to 80 secs before starting run in on conversion etc.
May even watch it again as I have it recorded.
I will add and WOB will no doubt back me up, when he starts his guest apperance by saying 'I coming to you from the Mighty Nua" he has got full attention anyway!
