If Van and Horwill are being rested ahead of the SA tour, then Wallace-Harrison to start with Samo on the bench, or vice-versa. McDuling as a left field choice?

Has Chambers' run finished - Has had heaps of opportunities - Ben Taps has to be close. Probably a little too early for McDuling but evidently been playing exceptionally - If Van out then surely Wallace Harrison

If the Reds manage to get a handy lead (preferably with the 4-try BP) in this game then I would like to see Quade and Will substituted to give their understudies some game time in their positions so that if injuries occur later in the system they have had a run there at Super Rugby level.

Chambers deserves to keep his jersey, he is on the end of a misfiring back line at the moment, and Taps isn't a outside centre

It is a bit hard to assess that until the outside backs see a bit more ball. I do think second year syndrome has hit him some what.

Yeah but he is still a part of the problem - can't change the lot and cooper genia and ioane are "untouchable", certainly at this stage of the season. Players on the fringe and playing well need to get a shot over underperformoming players - breeds competition within the group. Agree with Aussie D re substitution (Cooper and Genia) if good lead established. Hope so but think this game will be close

I've seen Tapuai at outside centre a number of times in various teams and from memory he gave a good account of himself. The one thing he should do well, if indeed he is called up, is defend the channel. Be a tough call on Chambers though.

Has anybody seen A.Finger at 13? perhaps taps at 12 and finger at 13? If the midfield gets any working over at all...

I think we can discount this "resting" player stuff - My take is that unless they are 100% they will not be played - back the replacements and show respect to the Rebels. Playing not fit players does no one any good.
If they are not fit then they are injured - simple as that

He played for Aus A there last year. The backs weren't getting much ball and Barnes was at 5/8 and in a form slump so we didn't really see what he was like there.

Nah, use the tactic that the Tahs have used with such distinction and success. Pick the best 15 every week and leave the subs to rot on the bench, even if a player gets an injury.

The injury talk is typical Macqueen - Gerrard is definitely out , the rest will play so not as dire as they they say

Everyone is talking about the backs in this game. This is game that is definately about the forwards. The Rebels got wiped out when they got shown up in the forwards, like the Tahs and Chiefs game. The Reds have definately struggled up front this year, which is why I think it will be closer than lots of people are predicting. I don´t see the Rebs winning this one, but its going to be closer than people think.

so newspaper articles indicate that either Taps or Ioane will be starting outside centre.

Does that mean Morahan could be in line for a promotion to starting wing?
