Interesting to move Petaia back to a wing.

Not going to lie, it frustrates me as a fan when a player seems to be performing in a position and then is moved out of it, even on return from injury. Especially considering Campbell has been very mehhhh the last couple of games.

I wonder if the plan might be sub Creighton off at some point, Campbell to flyhalf, Petaia to fullback and Grealy/Daugunu on the wing.

I'd rather have:

11. Petaia 14. Vunivalu 15. Campbell

Than:

11. Campbell / Daugunu / Grealy 14. Vunivalu 15. Petaia

Campbell hasn't been bad by any measure. I suspect he is trying to balance his role a bit with JOC (James O'Connor) gone. Affecting his normal game.

Petaia will play a hybrid game anyway. We will still see his carries and kicks from the back.

Which other prop is out for us to be bringing in big Alby?

I'm keen to see how Flook goes at 13 after a bit of time on the sting.

Need our wingers hammies to hold up.

If Petaia is meant to be targeting carries and kicks from the back, I'd have expected him to be 14 rather than 11. Agree with your thinking on Petaia and Vunivalu at wing and Campbell at FB over the alternatives available. Though 11: Daugunu 14: Campbell 15: Petaia 22: Vunivalu could be considered (if Daugunu is looking better at training).

I can't see how Reds compete in this one without Tupou. The scrum was too costly once Tupou left and the Landers scrum is probably the only strength of their game and they'll know that's probably the only area they'll have dominance and rely heavily on it.
Highlanders are really not a good side. You'd hope the Reds have more to them than Tupou. I think they'll be favourites and rightly so.

That said, if they lose you'd imagine their shot at a home quarter will be up in smoke and that'll be more or less the season.

Particularly now that Paisami is out, I imagine it's to free Jock up to slot in at first receiver and help out Creighton more. As @Purce said, it's probably better than the alternative too, and Jordy will play a hybrid game as is usually the case - although if Creighton goes down or is pulled, no doubt we'll be shuffling Jock to 10 and Jordy to 15

What are the reports on Albert Anae?

Apparently was in Japan, rolled down to Brothers training a couple of weeks ago but I don’t believe he has played for them yet.

He will hold up a scrum, but obviously a downgrade on the players who would usually be ahead of him, apparently he was only given a Reds gig a month ago when front row crisis became clear.

he played off the bench for Brothers on the weekend. At hooker. Scrum got minced.

He filled in with the Rebels last year too didn't he?

The one thing they do have is a scrum.

The Clan haven’t been in great form this year , hopefully our game plan has been rethought from last week. Otherwise with that much ball we might just run them back into form.

I would be a little surprised if Thorn gave the kick the shit out of the ball that he seemed to double down on at haftime last week.
I think the Reds pack may possibly go better than some posters think they will, as they know from the start that they have no Taniala to rely on?
Just a thought anyway. Reds loosies may be the diiference as I not really sure about Reds backline. Both teams have good 9s, and 10s that perhaps not at top of their game, so will be interesting.

Ha ha!

Fair enough mate. It's still diversion though.
